I really hope they turf Steinbag soon. This guy spends more time nattering like an old lady with Bryn then adding any value to the show. I've gone from a regular listener a year ago to if there's no other choice now.
If Bryn is supposed to be a "sidekick" they first need someone capable of carrying the primary role.

I suggest you try fan590 if you can stream on your computer or phone. Bob Mckown and Stephen Brunt are very entertaining.

Yup, I hate Mcowan and his smugness. I hate how he constantly snickers when he's talking. I think I'd honestly rather listen to Brynn, which is saying a lot.

For some reason McGowan has managed to surround himself withsome knowledgable folks. This is what makes listening to his show enjoyable. Bob himself is a pompous ass most of the time.
Bryn on the other hand is just a vanilla guy who seems to have an unfortunate bias for Edmonton (it's like he is from there or something). Love or hate Rob Kerr, at least he had strong, informed opinions (which is kind of like McGowan). Ditto Boomer. Rhett is refreshing because he doesn't filter (doesn't alway have an informed opinion, but he has one).

Why? This seems the perfect forum to discuss the quality of sports radio in Calgary, since we are their main target audience, and guys like us might have the FAN on 10 hours/day...

Disagree. We're all rabid hockey fans and the embarassingly low level of insight and unintelligent talk that Bryn brings is of concern to many of us.
I've complained to the Fan directly and in this thread. But I've stopped listening to the Fan960 in protest. Bryn Griffiths is just horrible compared to guys like Robb Kerr and Peter Loubardias. Frankly it is painful to listen to. I'm surprised Steinberg doesn't abuse him more.

Actually I belive you nailed it. Frankly I think the guy is a miserable a-hole but at times I listen to his show. Why? Because his co-hosts usually have solid, informed opinions.

Please explain why this is just so different from the fire Brent Sutter or Darryl Sutter threads. No one seemed to call those 'horrible' at the time.
Am I mistaken that this thread is meant to discuss the radio personalities and feelings towards them? No one seemed to care when Bryn was being pegged for firing for 20 pages but the second Steinberg is brought up its time to put the brakes on?
Its no secret the stations ratings are in the toilet and that has a lot to do with the on air personalities.

I drove back from Forestburg yesterday and listened to the show. Bryn is painful. They were discussing the new OHL fighting rule, and it didn't see like he grasped the application of the rule. It's sad, because I used to really enjoy Kerr.

Well frankly I was never a big fan of the other fire threads either. But there is a difference - in that these guys are not highly paid pro coaches. They work very hard and don't get paid a ton of money to do it. They are basically regular working stiffs like the rest of us.
Now I get that they chose a public job and as such criticism is expected. I just think calling for someone to lose their job is in really poor form.
As for the ratings - sports stations always have lower ratings than other formats because they are more niche. The key is they bring in a very specific type of listener (young males with cash) that advertisers love.
I've not seen recent ratings for the station but I suspect they are more or less the same to historical figures.
