Geekbench is a pretty thorough benchmark, and more then 1 result is taken. It's pretty clear that the devices are pretty square power wise.

My argument is to let the experts do the benchmarks. Let them analyze the results with their explanations. Not some random guy running a benchmark test on his phone with no notes or comments of the testing environment.
I'm not sure if ios can run multiple programs at the same time yet but if it does, than a Quad core can definitely beat a dual core in speed. Thats probably more real world than any geekbenchmark.

Benchmark is not really real world- its the theoretical performance.
Once again, real world the major factor is the optimization of the software coding, particularly 3rd party apps. If I design a crap app and run it on a S3, it'll still be crap. Same with iOS, regardless of which phone I use.

and then when you click his link from your article it gives us this chart.....??
http://browser.primatelabs.com/android-benchmarks
ummmm it shows the Galaxy with a score of 1755, and the ASUS Nexus 7 with a benchmark of 1631, both higher than the 1601 score by the A6.
Did he hope that no one would click the link? hehehehehe

No, that is the average, so more people with different benchmarking scores have submitted to the database. At the time of the article it was what he mentioned in the article. And this goes back to my main point....why is there such a big range on scores on the S3...There is usually a small margin, of about 50-100 points, but not such a wide range, if everything was the same (but from what I understand rooting, custom roms, and overclocking is pretty common in Android compared to the iPhone world)

So it's fair to say that if i run 10 different programs at the same time on the S3 and the Iphone 5, the S3 would be running faster.

Well, on the iPhone, the idea is when you run your 10th program, it is the same as running no programs, since the other apps sit idle, and no app will require the full amount of RAM.
Edit: still not sure what your point is. I get that you have an obvious disdain for all things Apple, but to bash without even testing it and ignoring other evidence seems foolish. At the end of the day, both phones are -very- close in overall benchmarks from a hardware perspective (and if benchmarks favor quad core, even more impressive that the dual core iPhone is competing with it), and the reality is it comes down to iOS vs Jelly Bean or whichever OS you are running.

OK, since the importance on links has been placed, here's the link from the article discussing the benchmark graphic I posted, as well as an excerpt from it. I really didn't think it was that big of a deal, since I was responding directly to a (at the time) current conversation about comparative benchmarks... but anyway...

SunSpider is quickly outlasting its welcome as a smartphone benchmark, but it does do a great job of highlighting issues with the Cortex A9's memory interface. Intel originally hinted at issues in the A9's memory interface as being why Atom was able to so easily outperform other ARM based SoCs in SunSpider. As we surmised in our A6 Geekbench post, it looks like Apple specifically targeted improvements in the memory subsystem when designing the A6's CPU cores. The result is the fastest SunSpider test we've ever recorded on a smartphone - faster even than Intel's Atom Z2460.

Arguing about mobile phone benchmark performance is about as interesting as watching a wiener measuring contest and equally as useful. Please argue about features or size or available apps or anything other than some processor beating some other processor by microseconds in some random benchmark. It's painfully boring.

So here is a question, because I have decided to post all my questions here about which phone I should get.
If I get an Android phone (Nexus, S3, whatever), is there any way to move settings to the next phone I get? Like with iPhone I can backup and restore to a new device seamlessly.

Unless you have rooted both the old and the new phone, there's not too much you can do.

um, what? Google backs up all your apps and important settings and restores them when you log into a new phone for the first time. switching from ROM to ROM like i do would be a huge pain in the ass if it didn't

Had an idea!

Titanium Backup(free) does the same thing. Just click restore and off you go. But you have to be on the same version firmware for it to work properly.

My mistake then. I haven't bothered with having the Google re download all my apps since it doesn't carry app data over and didn't know that settings were a part of that.

it won't backup things like your homescreen layout or app data (does the iphone do app data? i'd be surprised if it does), but things like wifi passwords and stock browser settings are carried over

A new low of CP nerdom has been achieved. Arguing over benchmark scores?

Is there any way to stop that?
Like if I got a phone and my wife had one, but we used the same account and didnt want to share all our stuff, could we?

I know Game Center stuff can transfer between devices, but I don't think other apps do normally. Perhaps if you use iCloud to backup, but that's really just another method of doing the same things iTunes does.

If you two use the same Gmail account you can still choose to restore on one and not the other. When you set up the phone initially you'll have two options. 1) Keep this phone backed up from your gmail 2) restore phone settings from gmail. If you have two selected when you go through initial setup, it'll restore all your apps.

Actually, I think it's worse. The argument is over if/how to properly LINK benchmark scores and the implied "shenanigans" if the links are not to standard.
