MLB should make him wear little rainbows instead of eyeblack when his suspension's over.

In the day and age of trying to make homosexuals feel more included in team sports, you can't brush this off. Joke or not, there are some things you just don't do.

Nope. That was a long time ago, when homo and gay jokes were still kind of funny. Thankfully that was a long time ago, and now I know how truly immature and idiotic homo and gay jokes are.

Whether it is fair or not, and i think it is fair, athletes are held to a higher standard than joe blow on the street with stuff like this.

Plus the guy has been in MLB long enough that the whole "in my country it is okay" crap is BS.

Given his history in Atlanta tough to give him any benefit of te doubt here.

LOL. If Ozzie Guillen says it's okay then it's definitely NOT okay.

Pretty stupid by Escobar. Was probably going to be traded in off season but this will likely seal the deal.

I think Hech will be fine, you can see it already. Better at bats, and has a nice swing with a quick bat. Doubtful that the Jays will contend next year anyway.

I am sure some team would take a chance on the player.... might not get much in return (due to his lack of offense).

I would not be surprised to see Escobar traded in the Winter.

I was talking to a Mexican friend and he reiterated everything Escobar and Vizquel said. He worded it better though, said that it is used more like "wuss" than a homophobic slur

Default Omar Vizquel as Jays manager in the near future (?)...

Given the neverending rumours that Boston is very interested in regaining Farrell as part of their staff not as a pitching coach but as a manager, if so, the Jays should try to trade for one of the Bosox's pitchers in the rotation .

Given Omar Vizquel's great career and exposure to many top managers over his 23 years in the majors, he should be a fine candidate as Farrell's replacement. He seems to have a good repoire with players-listening and communicating with them constantly. He obviously cares enough to state that the Jays do not seem to have any true leaders in the clubhouse as well as sound communication between staff and players. As a result, the Jays are making the same amaturish mistakes since April-from poor base running, signal mixups, poor play judgements etc and players seldom suffer any consequences as a result. The above mistakes were not the results of their many key injuries. There is just not much accountability and leadership to correct and move forward.

If I were AA, Omar Vizquel should be gven a long hard look as the next Blue Jays manager of the future.

Vizquel will make a great manager one day but I suspect he wants to go back to Seattle.

Well, the jays now only need to lose 1 game, or seattle and the Mets need to win 1 game each for the jays to be guaranteed a top 10 pick. This is significant as only the top 10 picks are protected, unlike in years past where it was the top 15. So if the jays were to sign a top free agent (12 mil qualifying offer or higher) the jays would only have to surrender a second round pick.

That would be good.
