If you except to have them for 20+ years buy a Miele or Bosche. Do not buy bosche if you or your significant other do not like to rinse your dishes. Our old place had one that. The place was a rental before we bought and the Bosche stunk a bit from lack of cleaning.
We just bought a DW for our new place with a masicator. I think maytag it's a maytag.

Anyone have a recommendation for a cleaning product for the plastic surfaces in cars? Swiffer does a good job but something to clean off some of the dirtier areas (cupholders, gearshift area). Don't need a re-conditioner type thing, just a good, overall plastic surface cleaner. Bonus if it has a UV protection factor.
Whilst on the subject, any tips for a good vacum for cars? Maybe something that has tools to get into all the millions of nooks and cranies?

I think he was looking for washing machines not dish washers.
anywho in response to the original question for washers and dryers we have LG and have been happy with them so far, If you are looking for a name such as Kenmore also take a look at the whirlpools, if I'm not mistaken they both come out of the same factory.
When we were researching Samsung seemed to continually come out on top of ratings and satisfaction surveys so not sure why we went with LG TBQH

- Auto glym (sp?) - available at Canadian tire.
-meguires makes a good all around interior cleaner (safe for plastics / vinyl) as well as quick wipes to keep in the glove box for those quick details on long trips.
- a few drops of Woolite/dawn/baby safe for allergies type laundry detergent and water. Laugh if you will but it's cheap, doesn't leave a residue, doesn't collect dust afterwards, and is safe on virtually every interior material (with the exception of suede or alcantara I guess). I'm pretty anal about what I use to clean my car and I use this method a lot. No uv protection though.

Can anyone recommend a central place to get dry packed scallops (i.e. fish market) in Calgary?

Just setting up my utilities accounts for my new townhouse, Anyone have any recommendations? We were thinking of using Enmax for electricity and gas, and not sure who we need to go through for water/sewer.
Also, anyone have any idea what Enmax reward dollars are?

I intend to develop my basement this winter (2 year old house), and would like to base my drawings off some actual blueprints rather than measuring it all out myself. What is the easiest/cheapest/quickest way to obtain these blueprints? I've already looked through all of our house files, and didn't see anything in there.

This is actually almost embarrassing as I feel I should know this but prior to now I'd used natural gas for so long I forgot how this works.
About to buy a new BBQ. My current place doesn't have natural gas hookup so I'm going back to propane.
What do I do? I know when I used to have a propane tank I would take it to Macs or whatever and IIRC they'd just trade me for another one and I'd pay a reasonable amount.
But now that I dont' have a propane tank of my own at all how does it work? Do I still go to Macs or wherever and just pay more the first time? Do I need to buy my own outright from Home Depot or something?

If it's that young, ask the builder. They may have them still.

Most places that fill propane tanks sell new and re-certified tanks. If not Home Depot/Canadian tire kind of place will have a tank for you to buy.
Just a tip, you may want to buy 2...Nothing sucks more than running out of propane in the middle of cooking.

I got a bunch of stuff at Billingsgate last weekend, they seemed to have basically everything I could have needed. Not very central though.

I'm pretty sure you have to go through the City for water/sewer and you don't have a choice about it.

So guys..... Do any of you find bodybuilding women attractive? I just saw this woman that looked like she could beat up most guys. Sorry lady, when your shoulders are four inches wider than your waist, you need to put down the barbell. You look like a man. Are you trying to attract gay guys?

I haven't lived in Calgary in a long time so now I'm curious if enmax is just paying the city on your behalf in this case?

Went hiking along some of the Mt. Shark x-country trails last weekend and saw an unbelievable number and variety of mushrooms growing. Is there a non-lethal (just getting that out of the way right now) method of finding out if mushrooms are poisonous or not?

At one point I wanted to be crushed by a vice-like legs and sodomized by a clitoris. Now, not so much.
