I'm going to lose it on this hardcore passing. I just can't get it! I get in past the blue line and basically have to shoot otherwise I know I'll blow it 10 feet out of the zone. I've given up probably 4 breakaway goals already by trying to make a soft pass to a defenceman at the point with zero people between us. I don't know how some of you guys do it. I've practiced a bunch of times and I'm not getting any better.

Maybe I'm just frustrated but I do wanna say IMO this league has nothing to do with being a manager and everything to do with how good you are at the game, I thought I was decent from my casual playing but have quickly learned I am in for a long season. Pretty sure I could have Crosby, Malkin and whoever else and would be in for a loss. I know I can sim games and may the odd one but I like to play and will have to learn to take my lumps, on the plus side I will probably get the first overall pick!!

Essentially when the league became active. But the first advance date isn't until September 20th.

I'm with Russic and king_amonte. I'll be fighting for the first overall pick as well. This hardcore passing is killing me.

Im not sure anyone is really 'used' to it, it makes this game rough to play but alot more level playing field.

Honestly you just gotta keep at it and naturally you'll get the hand of it. Practice mode helps, but you'll get the best benefit from doing offline play now games against the CPU.
My best advice is to look at the player you're going to pass the puck to help in your aiming; as well keep in mind if he's moving where he'll be when the puck reaches him. I find that helps me out a lot. If I miss aim the puck, it's because I didn't really focus on my eyes on the intended target enough.
Granted I kinda had a lot of experience with hardcore passing since I loved using saucer pass in previous versions of NHL, and that type of passing is hardcore by default.

I too can't pass to save my life, and have my eyes on a nice lottery pick...hell I got beat 5-0 by the CPU in my game against Detroit!

The rebuild has started in St. Louis. GM Schick has announced that Alex Ovechkin will be sidelined for 37 games with a shoulder injury.
Accepting offers for Shane Doan, Chris Pronger and Craig Anderson.
Looking for young stud prospects in return.

I have a suggestion for passing. Change your on ice camera view. I switched mine to custom 2 and it made one heck of a difference.

Does that zoom the camera out any? Because I don't have a big screen TV and I can't view the whole ice at all.

Yup it does. Custom 2 which I prefer is an overhead on the ice.

I don't know about that.
I have started the year 3-0, but that is not really an accurate indication of how I have played. All three games have been decided by one goal, and all it takes is an unlucky bounce or weak goal to to change the outcome of a game. I consider myself a good player but nothing spectacular and as far as I can tell most people here fall under that category.
I have personally found it very competitive and exciting to this point. Losing is never fun, I agree, but no one will go undefeated. It's all about the ebbs and flows and taking them in stride!

I desperately need to get my games vs hurricanes, hawks, and capitals!
I'm moving to Grande Prairie tomorrow and I doubt I will have internet access for awhile

Thanks a lot for the tip!! I gave that a try and felt a difference instantly!
I also practiced a bit against a buddy (we both needed practice haha), and we set the playing style to hardcore. It's at least a tad bit easier now.

Question. How do you set up your games. I push x on the game and it seems like I have to play that game now. And I need to play Florida, NY Isles, and the Rangers. So pm me and we can get the games in

Use your right paddle to move up or down to the team you want to play and click x once on that team.

I assumed we had to play the schedule in order. I never tried picking future games!

Don't have to play in order, however most people have not enabled playing against CPU so you cant play if they aren't online.
