This sums up Cutler perfectly IMO....as pennned by Kevin Siefert

Cutler produced the second-lowest passer rating of his career Thursday night. But here's what really struck me about his performance: At 29 and in his seventh NFL season, Cutler can still lose his mind in adverse situations. For much of the second half, it looked like Cutler was so frustrated he was playing what you might call "screw it" football. Receiver is covered? Screw it, I'll throw it. Offensive line is having a tough time? Screw it. I'm holding the ball and bouncing wildly around the pocket to buy time. A great quarterback should minimize adversity around him, not elevate it. It was a scary reaction for a franchise that has built its short-term prospects around the idea that Cutler would excel when surrounded with the kind of skill players and scheme he wants. Woodson said he saw the "same old Jay," a devastating indictment from a respected elder of Cutler's purported development and maturity.

He was sacked 53 times in 2010, I believe it was about 15 more times than any other quarterback, yet he still led the team to a division title and a 10-5 season. Last year he was 23 times in only 10 games. 23 times, and he was 7-3 up to that point and most likely on route to a 10+ win season. He does have a temper on the sideline, anyone could see that but I really dont blame him, after the 4th sack in only the 2nd quarter, given up by the same LT, I'd like to think most QBs would be pretty openly livid at that player.

Finally; Lovie Smith, Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, Julius Peppers and Charles Tillman have all noted him as a natural leader on the field and I think the fact he is belligerent, vocal and angry make him look like a bad team player when most QBs in the league have a much more passive and quiet manner about them when things are going south

I'm positive I can string together some stats to show that 15 of the QB's in the league are in the top tier. When you just focus on part of the picture its easy to paint any picture you like right?

When you look at his entire resume, to me, he is the poster child in the NFL today for falling apart when things go wrong. He whined his way out of Denver, because his feelings were hurt, and while having a great arm, with a ton of accuracy, the quote above is perfect. He says 'screw it' and melts down when things don't go perfectly for him.

Well respected, senior players in the league never say "same old Tom" or "same old Peyton" or "same old Drew". that quote by Woodson is telling, not only about what he thinks of him on the field, but off as well.

I was not happy with how the D was playing outside of Bernard Pollard at the time I posted that, as the game wore into the second half I was pretty happy with the way D played.

Totally useless thing I found rather interesting about the Philadelphia Eagles and their last three home openers. Not only did New Orleans, Green Bay, and the NY Giants beat them, they won the Superbowl that same season.

For whatever reason Philadelphia is favored against Baltimore this weekend after barley beating a sad Cleveland team last weekend. I think it is a trap game for Baltimore as the majority of people/experts are picking them to win this weekend despite them being underdogs. I have reasons for that, Baltimore last year came off a emotional win after kicking Pittsburgh's ass in week one, followed that up with a dud at Tennessee the following week in a loss. The same thing happened in 2010 when they beat the Jets, followed that up with a loss at Cincinnati the following week.

Crap, Greg Gumbel and Dan Dierdorf are doing the play by play this weekend for the game above. Those two are like the worst of the worst when it comes to play by play.

Yeah, I would actually say that is pretty accurate to be honest. My only sticking point is what else do you do in his situation? Honestly?

He is down by 14, and everyone knows he has to pass. There were a few open passes that he did miss when on the run, but otherwise he can either A) Force a ball into traffic and avoid getting hit or B) wait for a receiver to get open, which by that time has him running or bouncing around the pocket. What do you do other then throw it away?

I dont blame Cutler at all, I think it was a case of Packers defense outplaying the Chicago Offense in all facets. the receivers couldnt get open and the line couldnt block.

I was happy with the often criticized 'old' defense of the Bears who showed that throughout this season they will be able to give the offense alot of opportunities to score. They played very well against a powerful Green Bay offense for the majority of the game

When we saw Brady snap at his o-line in the preseason or Peyton Manning's famous rant at Saturday everyone said what great leaders and competitors they are. But when Cutler does it he is called a crybaby, whiny and a bad leader. Guess some players just cant win

As a huge Ravens fan I fear the exact same thing. The Ravens are also not good on the road.

However, the way the Ravens won last year is something I have not seem in a decade. I am as excited for tommorrows game as any regular season game I can remember. Joe Flacco could finally get the respect he deserves if they walk into Philly and lay a beating on them

Titans Chris Johnson's grandmother passed away this morning...often see these kinds of things become a motivator for a player. Add onto that he had a brutal week 1, i sense he goes off on SD this afternoon.

Also add in that Nate Washington is out and Kenny Britt is not 100% and so you have rookie Kendall Wright as the #1 receiver and I think you will see Johnson with 30+ carries.

I think Bruschi explained it best.

Most all of the incidents you see on the sidelines between players and players and players and coaches are when a player makes a mental mistake that has likely been gone over numerous times the week of practice.

What happened on Thirsday wasn't that. It was a LT that simply got beaten by a better player physically. Not much a guy can do when he is up against a superior player, and when the OC doesnt slide some help over, its hard to blame the player. Cutler got on a guy who was already down because of his limited abilities vs Matthews.

That's the difference and that's why Cutler is looked upon as a very poor leader.

Also, i would say that Cutler made numerous errors that game as well, and how would he have liked it if one of is receivers came up and berated him on national TV? He would lose his mind.

Dude simply doesnt get it.
