I can't believe a ####ing YouTube video has created this mess.

Riots used to be about things that meant something - war protests, civil rights, democracy and freedom. Things that actually mattered.

If this is what happens from a poorly made, 14 minute video made by an Islamophobe, I'd hate to see what a two-hour long Hollywood blockbuster would incite.

I bet half those protesters don't even know what the heck they're protesting against. I honestly think it's just a good ol' fashioned "dump on America" bandwagon moment.

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood said Friday (September 14th) the United States was not responsible for an anti-Islam film that sparked violent protests across the region, calling for demonstrations to remain peaceful.

In a letter to the New York Times, the Brotherhood's deputy leader Khairat el-Shater said Egyptians have the right to protest the offensive Internet video but that the storming of the US embassy in Cairo was "illegal".

"Despite our resentment of the continued appearance of productions like the anti-Muslim film that led to the current violence, we do not hold the American government or its citizens responsible for acts of the few that abuse the laws protecting freedom of expression," el-Shater wrote in the letter.

"In a new democratic Egypt, Egyptians earned the right to voice their anger over such issues, and they expect their government to uphold and protect their right to do so," he said.

However, they should do so peacefully and within the bounds of the law, he added. "The breach of the United States Embassy premises by Egyptian protesters is illegal under international law. The failure of the police force to protect it has to be investigated."

The violence, on the most part would stop, if all these clerics, who I assume believe in God and peace amongst men, stopped egging on the fanatical element in Islam, and instead started chastising those of their congregation who participate in violence.

Bullets on their own aren't particularly harmful; they're small bits of metal with some powder wrapped in plastic. Yet they somehow manage to kill an awful lot of people.

The Muslims that are non-violent, reasonable, free thinking people are no threat to anyone. The problem is that they are VASTLY outnumbered by crazy people who are still in the 'drag the deposed leader through the streets while firing AK47s into the air' stage of human evolution. But don't tell them about that either, since they'll probably try to behead you.

It's on Muslims to sort their image out; it's not on us to accept this nonsense. We don't do it for anyone else. There's no discussion about all the nice neo-Nazis out there who espouse the economic policies of national socialism as a way to live life peacefully, it's generally recognized that they're asshats. But when the other side is willing to blow themselves up for the promise of vagina in another dimension, all of a sudden everyone's gotta be all excusatory and 'it's not all bad...'.

That thinking absolves Islam of any responsibility, and that's not how this problem is going to get fixed.
