All religions do this from time to time, the only ones who don't or didn't are insignificant.

It is not that exactly, we as humans are hot wired to fear; whether its a sabre toothed cat or that somebody whom makes us believe that a person that thinks or looks differently than us is a sabre tooth cat.

I can't believe a ####ing YouTube video has created this mess.

Riots used to be about things that meant something - war protests, civil rights, democracy and freedom. Things that actually mattered.

If this is what happens from a poorly made, 14 minute video made by an Islamophobe, I'd hate to see what a two-hour long Hollywood blockbuster would incite.

I bet half those protesters don't even know what the heck they're protesting against. I honestly think it's just a good ol' fashioned "dump on America" bandwagon moment.

Couple interesting articles today:

http://www.egyptindependent.com/news...-embassy-cairo

Quote:
At this very moment, Americans are piling into movie theaters, cheering through their popcorn at the notion of the Islamic prophet as a goat-romancing child-molester, and sending “The Innocence of Muslims” to the top of the box office charts. It’s an evil that must be stopped at all costs, or at least, “before the film is released in European cinemas,” urges Ahmed Ibrahim as, behind him, three of his colleagues collect rocks off the rubble-strewn street and dump them onto an improvised sling—a tattered and stained Egyptian flag.#

Like the hundreds of adolescents surrounding him, 23-year-old Ibrahim claims to have spent the last three days hurling rocks at—and surviving lethal attacks by—the security forces that have not only “prevented the Islamic population from defending their honor,” but, worse yet, chosen to “align themselves with the American pigs, rather than remain loyal to their own religion.” As the four young men each grab a corner of the cloth and rush off with a flag-full of ammunition, they pick up on the chant roaring over the scene, a holdover from the 2011 revolution, mutated to fit the occasion: “The people say anything but the prophet.”

Quote:
Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood said Friday (September 14th) the United States was not responsible for an anti-Islam film that sparked violent protests across the region, calling for demonstrations to remain peaceful.

In a letter to the New York Times, the Brotherhood's deputy leader Khairat el-Shater said Egyptians have the right to protest the offensive Internet video but that the storming of the US embassy in Cairo was "illegal".

"Despite our resentment of the continued appearance of productions like the anti-Muslim film that led to the current violence, we do not hold the American government or its citizens responsible for acts of the few that abuse the laws protecting freedom of expression," el-Shater wrote in the letter.

"In a new democratic Egypt, Egyptians earned the right to voice their anger over such issues, and they expect their government to uphold and protect their right to do so," he said.

However, they should do so peacefully and within the bounds of the law, he added. "The breach of the United States Embassy premises by Egyptian protesters is illegal under international law. The failure of the police force to protect it has to be investigated."

The film maker who is on probation has been questioned by the parole office and for now released. It is illegal for him to use a false name or the internet(without permission).

I understand this movie was poorly made and is offensive to Muslims. What I'm curious about is if this movie is accurate.

Worst part is he's not a redneck. He's a Coptic Christian from Egypt. America is caught in the middle.

So forgive my ignorance but Coptic Christian means he's orthodox?

The coptic and eastern orthodox faiths seperated over minor differences in their belief over Gods substance in AD 451 after the council of chalcedon, were you hiding under a rock!

lol Must have been one of those rocks that was thrown at me. I don't pay attention to religion for this reason, causes too many problems and people get too much sand in their vaginas about it.

These guys are an embarrassment to Islam.

Someone in the international Muslim community needs to stand up and condemn the violence.

The solution to the problem is closer to home...

Quote:
On Friday, protests spread rapidly across roughly 20 countries, incited, in part, by calls to arms from Muslim clerics following weekly prayers.
http://www.thestar.com/news/world/ar...lm-turn-deadly

The violence, on the most part would stop, if all these clerics, who I assume believe in God and peace amongst men, stopped egging on the fanatical element in Islam, and instead started chastising those of their congregation who participate in violence.

Is Islam a religion of peace or is that just bulls**t put out for the western press and its readers?

Bullets on their own aren't particularly harmful; they're small bits of metal with some powder wrapped in plastic. Yet they somehow manage to kill an awful lot of people.

The Muslims that are non-violent, reasonable, free thinking people are no threat to anyone. The problem is that they are VASTLY outnumbered by crazy people who are still in the 'drag the deposed leader through the streets while firing AK47s into the air' stage of human evolution. But don't tell them about that either, since they'll probably try to behead you.

It's on Muslims to sort their image out; it's not on us to accept this nonsense. We don't do it for anyone else. There's no discussion about all the nice neo-Nazis out there who espouse the economic policies of national socialism as a way to live life peacefully, it's generally recognized that they're asshats. But when the other side is willing to blow themselves up for the promise of vagina in another dimension, all of a sudden everyone's gotta be all excusatory and 'it's not all bad...'.

That thinking absolves Islam of any responsibility, and that's not how this problem is going to get fixed.

I'm sure if any of them actually disagreed with it, they would.
