One of my very first toys as a kid growing up in the late 60's was metal Slinky. Thought it was a great toy. Nowadays, you couldn't give a kid a slinky and expect him or her to be amused longer than about 5 seconds. Damn electronic games have ruined the attention spans of today's youth.

I farking loved Meccano. Little motors and pulleys...you could make anything, and motorize it! Lego is awesome and ultimately became way more popular, but Meccano ruled.
