I noticed on Normal, and even more so on Hardcore the defense is a lot more aggressive and close, and control gaps so much better. I find I need to move the puck quickly and constantly to open up any kind of scoring chance.

Has anyone used the GM connected mode thus far? I have seen mixed reviews online

Has anyone figured out how to access the boost back from collector's edition yet?

So after having played a couple versus games online I have come to the conclusion that this version is even more broken than previous games.
The pokecheck is way too effective. It's ridiculous how effective it is.
The goalies are also broken. A 2-0 cross crease should work most of the time, goalies aren't lightning bolts. It seems EA has punished people who get 2-1's and 3-1's and 2-0's, because the goalies will almost 99% of the time save it.
Also, didn't EA say that you can just shoot and score in this game?
I played a game where Iggy came down the wing 5 times and each time Corey Crawford either saved it or he shot it wide. Really?

Reading the majority of posts on here it sounds like I could be giving online games another chance. I got so sick of people playing cross crease goal the whole time, when you had a team that would try and play proper hockey.
Only got this today, as it only came out in Europe today, but looking forward to it, sounds like the new skating takes a bit of getting used to.

Hey all wondering if you could answer a question for me (which may have been talked about throughout the many pages of this thread already?
I had NHL 11 a while back for xbox, and enjoyed the “be a goalie mode”, however, you would only get about 10-12 shots a game, causing even one goal to be horrible for your GAA, causing it to be next to impossible to do well…. how is the goalie mode in NHL 13?

Also, for anyone that only has one game to trade in, you can pick up the second used game from their list for about $35 (maybe less if your lucky). It gets better though as their magazine CLICK has a coupon (pg. 59) for $10 off any used game. So even just with NHL12 you can trade in for NHL13 for about $25!

Could I actually get away with this? They wouldn't have an issue with my buying a used game off the rack and then trading it right back in??

I did it. I even fessed up to the sales clerk saying I felt like I was being cheap and she said "Don't worry about it, I do it all the time too."

Is there a way to have Bartschi count as being a rookie? I want him to win the Calder trophy but for some reason he isn't included in the rookie scoring. Is there anything I have to change that will allow him to be counted as a rookie?

Hey would you look at that, a game that I'm not sure I want to buy, but would love to try.
Nope, there's definitely no need for rental stores anymore...

The poke check ought to be effective - the way the puck interacts with players/sticks this year is the best it has ever been. If you're finding it too difficult, go into the advance settings and change the settings to make the poke check less effective (there's an actual setting for just that).
I for one commend EA for their work on Goalie AI - their ability to read plays makes the game a heck of a lot more interesting. That said, I've scored on cross-crease goals, and I've been robbed on cross-crease chances. I've also caught the goalie out of position because he has cheated to attempt to stop a cross-crease pass.
Iginla was stopped 5 times, or he missed the net? That sounds reasonable to me. I like that you can actually miss the net, much more realistic.

Just had my first freeze up.
34 seconds left in the the period of a be a GM game, and try did a cut screen for replays, but I just hit A to skip. Upon going to a far shot of the face off dot, the game froze. Brutal.

Use the left (or right, can't remember) stick for positioning.. I normally go to the far side of the player that's taking the faceoff (position wide). Then time it nicely.. I'm not great but 6 for 60 is baad.
