Maybe the next time Mel Gibson puts out one of his gems me and a few boys from the Jewish Defence League will storm the Australian Embassy.

The film was stupid, but there's only one set of people in the wrong here.

You can blame Islam. It's the only major religion where this sort of behavior is widely tolerated, accepted, and encouraged.

The issue has much more to do with the way political forces have hijacked the ideology than religion.

Yeah, a commitment to peace love and understanding is why the entire friggin region is engaged in various forms of civil war after their 'oppressive dictators' were dispatched. And it's civil wars between sides that can't agree on who's crazy #### is the real crazy ####.

They wanna burn themselves to the ground, let them. Our way of life is earned, and until they figure that out for themselves, they can continue to die in whatever fire suits them.

Don't excuse this behavior. Crazy people got more crazy people to buy into a crazy idea. If the Muslim world wanted to stop being viewed as a savage, horrible mess, they should probably stop acting as such. If we killed every cartoonist who drew Jesus or a star of David, we'dve succeeded where the terrorists failed and actually got Seth MacFarlane years ago. *Much love, Seth*

People love to talk about how twitter and the internet helped with the Arab Spring. The BETTER ideas of western civilization are readily accessible to anyone who chooses to look for them and think for a moment. En masse, many parts of the Muslim world ignore this in favor of a backwards way of thinking more at home in the 11th century than the 21st.

Find me one mullah (not in the USA or western Europe) who will go on record denouncing violence.

Calgary Muslims plan Saturday protest at city hall

While they condemn the video, Calgary Muslims denounce the violent backlash it has caused, said Imam Syed Soharwardy, founder of Islamic Supreme Council of Canada.

“Violence is bad, it is very un-Islamic it is wrong,” he said, adding while acknowledging it’s not a U.S. sponsored video, the government should hold the filmmaker responsible for his actions and for contributing to the violence.

“This is not freedom of speech, this is hatemongering, this is provocation, this is citing violence against a minority ... this is intimidation, this is an attack on our religion.”

Read this:

But here's what his Jan. 23, 2005, news release actually said: "ISCC . . . strongly condemns the exploitation of tsunami victims by the Christian missionaries. There have been several reports that the Christian missionaries are kidnapping Muslim children in Indonesia. . . . It is now proven that the Christian missionaries do not help people on humanitarian grounds. They help people in order to exploit their needs and convert them to Christianity."

Even though it was mostly "Christian" countries and organizations that came to the aid of these devastated people, these kinds of news releases caused many Indonesian Christians to be attacked and killed, including three Christian school girls who were beheaded by Muslim men.

Soharwardy explained: "I wanted to use that news to send a message to Muslim governments." In other words, he knew his news release would find its way overseas. Perhaps he was hoping to join the lecture circuit there, too.
I think this guy says one thing to the Cdn press and something totally different to his followers.

Is it any wonder that many in the non-Muslim world believe that Islam is a religion of violence?

Quote:
On Friday, protests spread rapidly across roughly 20 countries, incited, in part, by calls to arms from Muslim clerics following weekly prayers.

He sounds like the he's moderate by Muslim standards, and that's not saying much. The proper response from anyone who matters is 'What? A video? made by who? Oh, some jerkoff? Who cares?'

not "The government should get involved, this is an attack on our religion" etc.

Figure out what century you're in, Islam, that's the only way things are gonna turn around for you.

It IS a religion of violence. I don't see how people can argue against it at this point.

The religion itself isnt, except where it has been perverted by those in power, to further their interests.
