I find the image extremely offensive. So offensive in fact that I'm on my way out the door and heading towards the US Consulate in Mt Royal.

Hopefully I can find a US flag on the way that I can tear up and burn and some cars in the driveway that I can smash and set on fire.

People love to talk about how twitter and the internet helped with the Arab Spring. The BETTER ideas of western civilization are readily accessible to anyone who chooses to look for them and think for a moment. En masse, many parts of the Muslim world ignore this in favor of a backwards way of thinking more at home in the 11th century than the 21st.

Calgary Muslims plan Saturday protest at city hall

While they condemn the video, Calgary Muslims denounce the violent backlash it has caused, said Imam Syed Soharwardy, founder of Islamic Supreme Council of Canada.

“Violence is bad, it is very un-Islamic it is wrong,” he said, adding while acknowledging it’s not a U.S. sponsored video, the government should hold the filmmaker responsible for his actions and for contributing to the violence.

“This is not freedom of speech, this is hatemongering, this is provocation, this is citing violence against a minority ... this is intimidation, this is an attack on our religion.”

But here's what his Jan. 23, 2005, news release actually said: "ISCC . . . strongly condemns the exploitation of tsunami victims by the Christian missionaries. There have been several reports that the Christian missionaries are kidnapping Muslim children in Indonesia. . . . It is now proven that the Christian missionaries do not help people on humanitarian grounds. They help people in order to exploit their needs and convert them to Christianity."

Even though it was mostly "Christian" countries and organizations that came to the aid of these devastated people, these kinds of news releases caused many Indonesian Christians to be attacked and killed, including three Christian school girls who were beheaded by Muslim men.

Soharwardy explained: "I wanted to use that news to send a message to Muslim governments." In other words, he knew his news release would find its way overseas. Perhaps he was hoping to join the lecture circuit there, too.

I think this guy says one thing to the Cdn press and something totally different to his followers.

He sounds like the he's moderate by Muslim standards, and that's not saying much. The proper response from anyone who matters is 'What? A video? made by who? Oh, some jerkoff? Who cares?'

not "The government should get involved, this is an attack on our religion" etc.

Figure out what century you're in, Islam, that's the only way things are gonna turn around for you.
