Hmmm, was going to pre-order, but I'm not so sure now. I have a 4 and it still does everything out there, might wait a bit and see if the early adopters think its worthwhile.

I'm pretty sure we'll be getting a couple of 5s for our company, and hand-me-downing our current phones.

Yes, that update came a couple of years ago. It's up to the developer to decide exactly how it functions in the background, but I have only run across 1 (The Simpsons Tapped Out game) in recent memory that doesn't do it.

Well some of us like having a 200GB music player that just does music. The iPod Classic is still one of the best despite not being updated in years.
I will always keep my 80GB version.

I wonder if they have a patent for that bevel edge. Looks pretty good too.

A bit higher volume during and after the event. Up $12 now for what little that is worth at this point in time.

One thing that is being overlooked (as it was with the 4S) is the improvement in the focal length of the camera. Apparently it gains 2 stops, which will make a huge difference in low-light areas. Even the difference between my wife's 4 and my 4S is beyond noticeable in this regard. Everybody gets bent out of shape about megapixels which is dumb imo. Photos on the 4S are quite large in terms of file size and certainly didn't need to get any bigger.

2 more f stops will always make a WAY better difference in picture quality than more megapixels.
More megapixels means that each pixel is smaller in the CCD, which means that it receives less light, all other thing being equal, which means that the camera will need more light to get a good picture.

I'm looking for some advice. In a nutshell, I've been using a 3GS for about 2 years and 9 months. My contract with Rogers is up in early December. I'm looking to upgrade to an iPhone 5 asap. I'm also looking for a bit better deal on my plan with Rogers. Right now I'm getting 500 megs of data, unlimited texting, My 5 (I think that's what it is, I don't use this feature at all) and 150 anytime minutes for 50 bucks a month.
What is my best course of action here? Should I be trying to get a new deal from Rogers retentions? Would that preclude me from upgrading to a 5 with my hardware upgrade? What is the best way for me to get a one of these phones quickly? I'm such a noob when it comes to buying cell phones and dealing with contracts. I've been a Rogers customer for over 10 years and in that time I've had exactly 3 phones and 3 contracts, so I really need some help.

Call them, tell them you want to stay with Rogers, but you want the iPhone 5 as well as something similar to their previous 6GB plan they offered. Tell them if you can't get the upgrade and something similar to that deal for what you are paying now, that you'll just get the iPhone 5 with another carrier and leave Rogers. They'll deal.

Make sure you check with Rogers to see that your contact doesn't auto-renew at the end of your 3 years. You'll have more bargaining power at the end of your contract because you can just switch to Telus/Bell and get a better deal as a new customer.

Is it a good idea to ask for more than I need then deal down? I'd be plenty happy with 1 gig of data, caller id and voicemail on top of my current plan. I'm sure some people have way better plans than that, right? I don't think I'm asking too much.

Looking at the numbers a bit more, I wonder if the free iPhone 4 with a 2 year contract is going to hit hard on low end of the market. Could be even more painful for some of the low end phone makers.

I would have liked a little more width for screen size (vertical scrolling is acceptable, I loathe side scrolling) and to have the borders above/below the screen reduced to add a little screen height. More phone height is my least favorite dimension change.
