Ball hockey is where it is at!

Better game times, way cheaper....and more fun imo! I'm fully converted.

Played Summer CAHL, doesn't look like I'm playing winter hockey.

However, I will be the fat guy doing scorekeeping for Winsport

i play in div 4 of the Calgary Men's Hockey Association - this is likely my last year playing as I feel to old and slow.....

i really like the CMHA as historically we have played about 28 games, 1.5 hr ice slots and the worst ice time was a 10.15 sunday night slot at ernie starr. there are lots of 7.00 pm games.

played for the neighbors teams in the NCHL - seemd kind of disorganized for a summer league as they had some games ont eh weekend, and we played the first thursday and last saturday of stampede......

A Laywers league? Is that really a good idea?

Lol, this is my first year playing in it. I've heard it gets quite chippy though.

Yeah, probably quite pricey after a dirty/fight-filled game, as well.

Planet Ice, Coquitlam, BC. Div 2.

What do you guys pay for ice time in Calgary? We are up to $11K for 34 games I believe. Getting costly if you can't find a sponsor.

Are you the guy who thinks Hitmen games are better to watch than Flames games because they're cheaper but still great hockey?
Just giving you a hard time as I can not believe you find ball hockey more fun than actual hockey.

I understand where you are coming from...

I started ball hockey when I was 13-14 maybe and still playing minor hockey. Didn't like ball hockey then much, only played it on the side to work on my ice skills that were a bit lacking (stickhandling etc).

I was surprised at how much it grew on me over the years...now, many many years later I haven't played ice in about 8-10 years but have been playing ball hockey steadily throughout that time frame.

I still look at ice hockey fondly, I just find that you can get the same high level of competitiveness (or casual) as well as the high enthusiasm for beers after just as easily. I love the fact that it is cheaper, way less prep time before games and how it is actually played a bit differently. I think ball hockey is a lot faster transition wise than ice...and slower top end speed. The way ice vs ball play is different, but similar enough that if you enjoy one, you will enjoy the other.

If some of you are wondering about it...check it out. It is great fun!
