Giants cannot run the ball, and have issues in the back end. Not exactly a good combination. Eli is gonna need to have a monster season for them to make the playoffs.

RIP Art Modell. I love how Cleveland fans can hide behind a computer screen and post really classless garbage. What a shame that the Hall of Fame committee couldn’t swallow their pride and induct this man while he was alive too.

Quote:
One of the most influential owners in the history of the NFL, Art Modell helped mold the foundation of the league.

The innovative Modell, whose reputation was forever tainted when he moved his franchise from Cleveland to Baltimore, died early Thursday. He was 87.

David Modell said he and his brother, John, were at their father's side when he "died peacefully of natural causes."

"'Poppy' was a special man who was loved by his sons, his daughter-in-law Michel, and his six grandchildren," David Modell said. "Moreover, he was adored by the entire Baltimore community for his kindness and generosity. And, he loved Baltimore."

Art Modell was a no angel. He leveraged the Browns into getting a new franchise and screwed the fans in Cleveland 100 times worse than LeBron ever did. He doesn't deserve to be in the HOF because he was a terrible owner. He had financial problems in Cleveland, thought he could do better in Baltimore and what do you know, he had more financial problems. Its wasn't the cities, Art.

Kinda strange (or telling) you are a fan of two franchises whose owners have royally screwed their original cities.

Modell did not screw over the fans in Cleveland, it was the politicians who built new facilities for the Indians and Cavaliers before dealing with the Browns. Go back to 1993 or so when this all started, and tell me which of the teams in Cleveland had the highest profile in the city. He had the foresight to see where the league was going, how much salaries were going to increase, and how badly he was going to need a better stadium to generate revenue. He was basically told to be the guy to stick it out and lose money for a few more years.

Once he left the civic politicians in Cleveland were pretty quick to get a new stadium built. They're the ones who dropped the ball in this matter. While in Cleveland Modell did a lot of positive things for the city and was pretty generous with charities there too. Of all the owners who relocated teams Modell is the one who probably wanted to stay put more than anyone else. But like anyone he was running a business and without money, you can't do that. Moving the team was his best chance to keep the business that was the Browns going.

You might be able to convince me it was the politicians fault in Cleveland, except once in Baltimore Modell was given a no-cost lease to the stadium there, all revenue from parking, concession and TV and a subsidy from the state of Maryland...and he still lost money. He was just a terrible owner, period.

I just dropped in to laugh at the Giants. They are a mediocre team, who got lucky and healthy at the perfect time last season. This team will not win more than 8 games this season.

If the Giants are a mediocre team, what are the Eagles?

The team that's owned them for over a decade, and won 7 out of the last 8 against them?

I actually like the Eagles more then the Giants but in recent history

Super Bowls: Giants 2 - Eagles 0

Sadly for Eagles fans that is all that matters in the grand scheme of things.

Well NFL losses tons of credibility, the Saints still lose because Sean Payton is the only person suspended that matters, and now the Saints can't have that chip on their shoulder and will be the most targeted team in the league.

Of course having a pro-union Louisiana based judge I'm sure brought no bias into this case whatsoever...
Of course they'll still have that chip. Why would they now be the most targeted team in the league? That makes zero sense.

And you don't get to see Vilma banned for life either? Must be a rough day for Bucs fans.

The Saints got off on the Ryan Braun technicality. Most non-Saints fans still believe the bounty system happened. Sucks it didn't go to trial because then the evidence would have to come out. As is, its still a hearsay case, and I think the evidence is still strongest that a system was in place.

Vilma's reaction was so pathetic its laughable. A bounty program suspected at the U when he was there, and now another one? Smoke usually leads to fire. And yes they will be the most targeted (not for injury, just hated) team in the league. Teams who felt victimized by their tactics won't forget.

And maybe you didn't watch last year, but Vilma is a shadow of himself now. In fact him being on the field makes me happy as the likelyhood of broken tackles and poor coverage increases. Especially since he won't be physically ready for weeks. Sean Payton was, is and always will be the only suspension that matters, and thats probably not getting overturned. The damage has still been done.

And the Bucs and Saints are at worst equals as franchises, but really the Bucs are still a better franchise historically. Not right now, but the return of the Aints is inevitable once Drew Brees retires.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/83...itration-panel

Quote:
"Consistent with the panel's decision, commissioner (Roger) Goodell will, as directed, make an expedited determination of the discipline imposed for violating the league's pay-for-performance/bounty rule. Until that determination is made, the four players are reinstated and eligible to play starting this weekend," the NFL said in a statement.

League sources told Schefter that Goodell is likely to reach a new decision in the coming weeks, but it will not be before this weekend's games.
Maybe I'm not understanding something here, but it sounds like Goodell can still punish them.

Also:

Quote:
The panel, which described its decision as "cumbersome," said, "in our view the alleged bounty program was both an undisclosed agreement to provide compensation to players and an agreement to cause injury to opposing players," league sources told Schefter

Goodell can't punish them because of the CBA. For the exact same reasons, the suspensions to the non-players will likely stay in place, as they are not covered under the CBA, rather under their own contracts.
