My only kickstarter purchase "D-Day Dice" arrived on Friday. Very pleased with what I got and the quality for $35

We backed the Digital Bolex Camera...and the Genie Motion Control Time Lapse Device.

We could've dropped $3,500 on a 5DmIII but why not fund innovation and for that matter evolution in our industry. Can't wait to get our hands on both!

In terms of the Canadian thing, I think Indie Go Go supports Canadian projects don't they? Or at least PayPal.

I backed the Sedition Wars board game a month ago. Can't wait for all those minis.

Officially, Kickstarter even says that you aren't allowed to circumvent their rules by using a friend or relative in the US, but it's pretty clear they look the other way when people do use this approach.
So to follow up on this, the person in question (my wife) decided to use her existing online shop and site to run a Kickstarter-style campaign to fund a book project on the visual history surrounding the typewriter. Once Kickstarter became a non-option and she had to choose between funding platforms that have less of a following, it made more sense to just run it herself and save that 4-9% fee that Indie-Go-Go charges.

Anyway, if anyone's interested, you can check it out the campaign here:
http://www.uppercasemagazine.com/typewriter/
Or check out a blog post about her decision to fund it through a more DIY approach to crowdfunding:
http://www.uppercasemagazine.com/blo...g#.UBb_MDH6ZGE

It would have done amazingly well on Kickstarter, but it's off to a great start, regardless.

I didn't know your wife was Janine. I love the Uppercase store. The typerwriter project looks great as well. Good luck with the funding.

I thought about that one but I already own Space Hulk so I can only afford to have 1 of those types of game.

I love how virtually all of those miniatures are just famous Sci-fi characters. Isaac, Riddick, A bunch from Aliens, BSG, Firefly etc.

Well, some of the bonus minis are. You could pledge extra to get them if you wanted, but they're not necessary, and aren't part of the core game. Lots of other extras are included still.

Not officially on kickstarter but essentially the same. Shadow Era is digital and the physical game started here:

Got most of the stuff shipped and it has turned out pretty darn well.

John Kricfalusi, who created Ren and Stimpy, has a kickstarter to make a new cartoon.

As La Flames Fan mentioned earlier Indiegogo seams to be a more flexible version of Kickstarter. It's seams as though it's open to everyone regardless of their location - http://www.indiegogo.com/learn/features

I've seen and donated to a couple of events on the site (The Draplin Talk in Calgary used Indiegogo and also the Castle Conflicts II funding http://www.indiegogo.com/cc2?c=home - unfortunately I didn't get around to funding before it closed)

Well it's not Kickstarter, but the guy behind The Oatmeal is starting a indiegogo to help build the Nicola Tesla Museum in New York. It's the first day and it appears they're at 250K... already.

Interesting. The other day I was reading about another indiegogo project of his called "Operation BearLove Good, Cancer Bad" where he raised over 200,000 for the World Wildlife Fund and the American Cancer Society.

Anyone back the Hidden Radio? I was upset i missed it, but looking at it now, I'm so glad i did. Missed deadlines, little contact, no video of an actual working unit, and they continue to solicit for new pre-orders. Fishy? So if there are any backers, i'd appreciate your view from the inside as i can't see the updates.
anyway, one way or another, i'm totally hooked on the outcome.
