I would note that I DO know enough about IP to say that it's largely a creature of statute in terms of actual rights it purports to give people, with jurisprudence performing a supplementary role.

I'm not a lawyer, nor am I even someone who has spent any kind of time reading about the law... but even I know I can't stick a picture of Jarome Iginla on a box of cookies and try to sell them at Safeway.
Come on man. You don't need a familiarity with intellectual property, just a familiarity with common sense.

Ya, it's so obvious that it's pretty much common sense law. It doesn't even have to be Jarome Iginla. I can't even put YOUR picture on a box of cookies and try to sell them at Safeway without your consent.

Seeing as the discussion is around why certain legends may not be in NHL 13 it's completely on topic

On PS3 (and I'm assuming it's the same on Xbox), you'd just import music off a dvd or usb stick and place them into a folder or playlist. Tell the game where to look and you're off to the races. You can pick a specific song or you can tell it to just shuffle whatever is in the folder/playlist.

Season pass annoys me, I mean it's cool and all but personally I want an actual copy.

You still have to buy an actual copy. The season pass lets you play 3 days early, then it stops working on release day.

Yeah... season pass costs 24.99... you didn't think you somehow got the full game for that did you?

I thought you had access to buy the full game early via download. Not just a rental for 3 days. It actually sounds a lot worse with just a rental in my opinion.

Negative. If you have a ps3 I believe you can just upgrade the game from within the early access version, so it's no biggie. But I think for Xbox you have to re-download.

If you buy the Seasons Pass, it's more than just the game early. If you buy boost packs, you get a huge discount, you get free gold card packs for HUT every month, and I believe you get early access to other EA Sports games as well. So you could essentially "rent" the full version of the next EA Sports game for 3 days for free.

Some of you guys are gonna notice since we're friends on PS3, but since I'm a tease.
Unfortunately I can't answer questions or give my impressions until Monday. Although with early release on Friday, you'll likely get to know what you want by then.
