Such a shame that he gets anything, but I guess according to the law it was the right decision.

Court heard that Fang was the victim of deprivation, beatings and psychological torture from the time he was a baby. A senior forensic psychiatrist who assessed Fang described the abuse as one of the worst child abuse cases he had ever seen

Cheng had two domestic violence convictions involving his family, and a divorce lawyer for Fang's mother said both she and her son lived in fear of Cheng.

After years of abuse I'm surprised they weren't able to argue some sort of insanity, but I guess if he went out of his way to find his dad at the library then it would be considered pre-meditated.

Sad story all around, dude has had a ####ty life.

He didn't get 10 years, he got life.

no one in canada truely get's "Life". I think it's 25 yrs then poss of parole.

The punishment seems right to me IMO. I think by sentencing him to life with no parole until 10 years, the judge was stating that while what he did was legally wrong, you had your reasons and if you are on good behavior, you can be out in 10 (probably less). Sad case though, I don't blame the guy at all for doing what he did. The real travesty is that the father was allowed to get away with it for so long. He deserved his fate.

His sentence is 25 years but possibility of parole in 10 years. Pretty much the lightest sentence he could be given, which I agree with.

I wish they had the ability to say that the extenuating circumstances were enough to warrant a drastically reduced sentence.
