They don't have it down here I see some recipes online but i'd like to get some tips. Anyone make it at home, or make it at a restaurant?

Go to P.F. Chang's and get the Beef a la Sichuan. It's pretty close.

To each their own. I like it and that particular dish is pretty close to Ginger Beef.

The worst "Chinese" food I have ever had was orange chicken at Panda Express in the Mall of America. Is that what passes for Chinese food down there? It's popcorn chicken in orange-flavored sauce!

Just make it at home, because what they're selling at PF Changs is nothing compared to what we have up here.

Get someone to overnight you a couple cases of the M&M Meats ginger beef, it's surprisingly good.

I may grab some before I attempt to make it myself. Hope it's close! I did finally find an Edo Japan and Taco time in Tempe.

Yeah I've had homemade ginger beef that my girlfriend made before. Made it a few times now, it was really good. I think she used this one:

Other than San Fran and maybe New York, the US has the worst chinese food in the world. I guess all the good chefs only moved to Canada.

We are so lucky here.

Do you have a wok and deep fryer? Based on the one recipe I just read it sounds like a pain in the ass to make.

^ Robotic's link sounds much easier.

My Asian Mother in-law makes it and it's amazing.
Though she rarely does anymore, as it's quite time consuming to do it right.

Panda is decent if you get the shrimp dishes or the new Angus pepper steak but yes.. it's complete trash.

I haven't found much good chinese food down here, but thankfully there are quite a few great Vietnamese places to make up for it. Gotta have my Phó yo and I did end up finding a couple great Dim sum spots.

Calgary is definitely blessed with great ethnic food.

I remember ordering take out Chinese in a Philly suburb once. Everything was the same shade of brown and it was awful.

However, I once had to work in Oakland's chinatown and it was ... AWESOME.

Char Siu Bau the size of a Softball for 99 cents.

Gonna try making this tonight.

Sounds pretty easy but in the end it'll probably be easier to walk across the street to the chinese food restaurant in my neighborhood.

You don't tend to find Ginger beef much outside of Calgary... Ginger beef was invented here.

I have not seen a single restaurant in Toronto or Vancouver with ginger beef on their menu.

Just sayin...

(Sorry, can't find you a recipe, no idea how to make it)

Best part about living in Western Canada? Every neighborhood has it's own Asian food restaurant.
