Default Holy crap! White Street Lights in Calgary! OMG!

Mind bottling! I was driving down Shaganappi yesterday and 4 of the lamp posts near the John Laurie had white street lights!

I have never understood why in the mid 80s we went from the white lights to the orange ones. Hopefully we are changing back.

are you sure they aren't LED street lights? Lethbridge has been starting to put these in in all the new developments. So much brighter and much more cost efficient.

oh man that is awesome.

He is refering to the colour of the light.

I believe they went to the orange to fight light pollution.

I don't care what kind of bulb they are as long as they are white!

I've put white lights all through the house and I love it. I even use white UV lights where I sit the most. It's such a nicer light then grunge yellow inside and outside.

I like the sodium vapour lights in Calgary; they give a nice warm light

You know, what happens when your thoughts get all trapped up like in a bottle.

See, I'm the opposite. I can't stand really white light. It makes it feel like i"m in a hospital or a morgue. I like having a tinge of yellow to give it a warmer feel.

I'm a white light kind of guy indoors, but for outdoors I kind of like the sodium vapour lights. They create a nice blue/orange contrast in blue hour photos. If they start mixing and matching them with white... ugh.

If you look at them long enough and closely enough, you can see that they're actually yellow-white lights, not orange.

That's my understanding as well. The orange lights still illuminate the streets, but don't overwhelm the surroundings.
