This is the official NHL 13 EASHL Club thread. Anyone who wants to join please post here with your gamertag, and position(s).

Joining the Club
To join, simply post your GT here as I said, with your position. You can join at any time, starting September 7th (Season ticket guys get it then).

Centre

Faceoff Ability
Winning faceoffs is key to winning a hockey game, us Flame's fans know that especially well. You'll need to win a good 50 percent of the draws to be successful on this team.

Playing Your Role
Don't call yourself a sniper and pass the puck to a grinder. Don't call yourself a grinder and go for breakout passes. Don't be a playmaker and never pass. It's about knowing who to look for to shoot. If we know you're gonna score, we're gonna look for you to pass. If we know you're gonna pass, we get in a passing lane. Don't put your teammates out of position, or yourself.

Offensive Ability
You are going to need to be able score. I'm not talking scoring 5000 points, like some of those guys do. 20 points won't cut it-either. We're looking to compete here, so if you can get 2-3 points a game, that's great.

Wingers

Stay in Position
I don't want to see 2 wingers skating down the right wing. Or the left wing. This happens more than people realize, sometimes it happens without you noticing. Focus on playing your position. That little blue arrow, that helps sometimes.

Defense

Positioning is KEY
Play your role. PASS the puck. Start plays. Don't skate over the center line unless one of the forwards are out of position. Don't miss a hit. Stay in the passing lanes and shooting lanes. You can't take away a passing lane and give him a wide open shot. You can't give him a huge passing lane and take away his shot. This is why having chemistry and being able to work together with your D partner is completely imperative.

Don't play offense
When you see a puck behind the dots, don't go for it. That's the forward lines job. If they don't get it and you go for it, the other team gets it before you, that's almost an instant ? on 1 that can lead to a great scoring chance and a goal. If you KNOW you can get it and set up a play- take a chance. That's part of it. But if you're a stay at home D, don't try to take that chance very often.

Upgrade your Pro accordingly
If you want a good point shot, work on that. Don't work on your fighting ability if you aren't a grinder. Don't work on your speed if you're going to be a grinder. This all comes down to what you want to do for the team, and what the team wants you to do.

Goalie

Play Smart
Make sure you observe all scoring threats. Point shots, obviously you want to be aggressive on those plays. Keep in mind that there could be someone on the left or right ready to eat up the rebound. In that case, stay lower, but still meet the threat.

Remember you have Defense
You have to count on your defense to neutralize threats when there's a one timer available or anything like that. It's not completely up to you to deal with those. Then again- don't complain about the defense, that doesn't help anyone.

Game setup/Communication
I would like to have everyone playing in the game join an Xbox Live Party, I'd like for everyone to have mics. This is obviously not as easy as it sounds. So anyone who has a mic and is comfortable talking, lets do so. If not- then we'll communicate via messages. I would rather, though, have you acquire a microphone

Good luck. I've been joining the CP league for the past couple years and 30+ people always sign up and only about 6 of us actually play together.

I might join up again, but I don't play EASHL games with human goalies. Games tend to always get out of hand fairly quickly.

Also, don't get your hopes up for people getting 2-3 points a game. This is going to be a truly a-hole statement to those of CP (it's not meant to offend anyone), but outside Jaymes there really isn't anyone on the 360 that can avg. that many points a game in EASHL. (Chalms and I can get close, but that's about it).

FlyingDonutz I think it would be a good idea to check with the 360 GM's who have been running the team for the last 3-4 years what their direction is. Can't expect them to check the Forums everyday so I would suggest mentioning it in the NHL 12 thread and give it more then a few hours before creating a thread and outlining the plan for the year.

They might appreciate having some input on something they started.

I can be part of the blame for that, I told him he could do it on the NHL 12 EASHL thread.

Yeah, I simply made the thread, I'd be glad for someone to take over as base GM.

And yes, I intend to play mostly for the fun of it. Sometimes it's frustrating to lose, though. I couldn't care less about winning, but sometimes people bicker. I'm sure that we're all much more mature than that, but it's also fun to win, so I just want to make sure everyone knows what they're doing.

I wanted to make the thread because the PS3 thread was started and I figured us 360 players should get planning, I do not want to take control of this, I simply wanted to get it going. If Jayems wants to take over, I'd like that, I just wanted to be sure we were doing an EASHL team, especially after Mitch's post.


So carry on, I'll remember to post in the 12 thread and if they want to take over, by all means, they can.

A few things.

One, I need to wait 12 hours to join a club, so that's pretty crap.

Two, I just scored the GWG in OT2 on Drop In, one of the more awesome things I've done in drop ins

Three, I dont have a clue how to change the thread title- the only other forum I'm on is not VBulletin so i dont know how it works, and the only other forum I've been on that is VBulletin didn't let regular users change the title.
