Oh wow. I wonder if they even realize what they're doing.

I know if you force your browser to do HTTPS, Pandora works as well. I think they know about it, and just aren't changing it because officially nobody in Canada is using the service, nor are they paying any music fees here.

I know KEXP has a lossless stream, but if Rdio or Spotify had it that would be amazing. But in most situations the current bitrate is good enough.

If you pay for Spotify, you get better audio quality. Not sure what 'better' is though. I'd imagine their free version is probably good enough for most.

Onavo installs a profile on iPhones that changes only the DNS. Turning off the app will not change the routing of the dns as its a profile but instead will stop compression through their server.

Its not all Rainbows, Fairies and pixie dust but it is an option to get Pandora in Canada free, easy and with no commitment.

Does it also work on your home PC? Or is there another option for that?

So right now I use Slacker which is pretty excellent. Especially if you create your own station. What makes this better? More tunes, is that it?

Slacker doesn't have the latest music, and their song selection sucks to be quite honest.

If you listen to the same playlist over and over again, you'll notice they play the same songs over and over again.

After Rdio's most recent catalog acquisitions, it likely has more content than Spotify. That's probably in the States though.

Depends on how you want to do it.

My suggestion is to use google chrome and download an add on called stealthy. Its is a vpn/tunneler and is clickable on off. Click on then go to the website to fool it into thinking you are from the USA, click it off when not needed.
