Do you pay per HD box on your shaw account or just for the HD package ??

It's just a one-time cost to buy each HD box. It's just the HD package you have to pay monthly.

So can I hook up any Shaw box to a cable outlet and receive the same HD channels as any other TV?

Yes you can, but you have to activate the box thru shaw...

Shaw offered me $9.99 for 6 months for HD TV. No contract, free pvr. Does anybody know what pvr that is?

They gave me, I think a 6412 on a year deal. I've turned it on maybe 8 times in 8 months as I find my Bell 9242 PVR way better. I only took the deal because it was cheaper taking it than what I was paying for internet alone.
