So the fact I'll be old, keep my cellphone in my crotch while driving and use a laptop on the pooper all the time means my kids will have super powers or be ######s?

No way, it's totally because of MMR vaccines. Jenny McCarthy told me.

The number of kids being born and their forced bombardment into other people's lives is the REAL disease these days.

I just hate the social stigma attached to people who don't want kids.

"You DON'T want kids?!!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! My son is a miracle...blah blah blah"

Yeah, my mistake for actually wanting to enjoy the prime years of my life.

Also, I'm using this as an excuse for when my girlfriend tells me she wants kids. "Sorry, baby, but I'm too old. They'd probably be ######ed or something. It's science."

I enjoy being a parent more than anything I did in the "prime years of my life". But you have to be ready.

Which is fine, and I get that some people enjoy it. However, there are other people, like me, who just don't have those paternal instincts/emotions, and I don't really understand why that makes us bad people.

"Actually, your son is probably like the rest of the general population - completely useless with little future potential to realize. In fact, given his immediate lineage I can easily see him underachieving this standard."

Joking aside, that is rather interesting. I had always associated the increased rates of autism to things like more awareness/diagnosis and frankly parents trying to find an excuse or honest reason for why their kid simply isn't very smart.

I don't want kids, and never will. I'm very comfortable spending my money on myself, and traveling with girlfriend(s) and other friends to fulfill my life. That'll always be the case, even as I move up in my career. I'm with rubecube here, I hate the social stigma that forces guys our age to settle down and have kids.

F that. This ain't the 1950's anymore.

You are not bad people. It is a wise person that can recognize they are not ready for the commitment.

I thank feminism. It's been one of the beautiful byproducts of the sexual revolution.

I was like that. I even went and got a vasectomy so I wouldn't have a bunch of little #######s running around.

Now that I'm older, I regret not having kids of my own.

Time will tell, I guess. For me, I'm always looking for the next challenge in my life and this keeps me interested and motivated. Having a little piss bucket leeching money from me for the rest of my life just isn't that next challenge I seek. Sounds a bit cynical, but hey, to each their own. There's lots of other things to do in this world than just conceive. I love my nieces to death, but I'm very glad I can give them back at the end of the day.

My great uncle Peter was a bachelor for life. Owned his own dental practice, flew an airplane everywhere, always had girlfriends and loved visiting his family. He died a happy man in his 60's.

But yeah, people who make others who don't want kids, feel bad, should not have kids themselves, they should die in a fire.
I'm guessing it's probably more of an insecurity thing. People who are happy they chose to have kids probably couldn't give a #### if other people choose to have kids. People who are unsure of if they made the right decisions probably feel more unsure when they're around those who choose not to have them.

Not overly excited about this study. Should I go right wing and say how wrong science is?
