Well the spider pack in the caves with arcane and invulnerable minions would disagree about "no combo"...
The monk was great until Act 2 Inferno, even the butcher was simple in Inferno, now I can hardly take on any elite pack. I certainly don't feel like I can make any mistakes. Maybe I'm undergeared as I haven't spent more than a few hundred thousand on equipment, but still it's like running headlong into a brick wall, and certainly isn't fun and my gold bleeds away trying to get any further.
Sucks was probably an overstatement, but it didn't seem like they got the same attention that other classes seemed to. But seven sided strike might be amazing post patch.

Definitely undergeared. I've spent more like 7-10 million on equipment, which isn't really all that much compared to some. Armor is around 6.9k, DPS 23k (27k when dual-wielding), resistances 780. I had difficulty surviving sometimes until I pumped up the resists, as at around 600 a mere second in desecration would kill me. I changed my Mantra to the Healing one with the extra 20% on resists rune, and Act II went from challenging to easy, and Act III from very difficult to challenging.
Anyway, you'll have the same issues no matter what character you take if you don't spend any gold on gearing up. Unless you have infinite patience, in which case you can spend 10x the time kiting every single pack and playing completely defensively, which is possible, or so I've heard.

Patch notes for 1.04. Looks like Inferno difficulty has been significantly scaled down, with affix changes for elites and a general debuff on their hit points and damage. Lots of information to absorb.
-- And no more invulnerable minions!

Yeah undergeared then, I don't even have 1 million gold though let alone 10.

Makes sense. So I may just start a different class anyway and forget about Inferno, grinding to get the gold to gear up just isn't very fun for me, especially when I have games I bought a year ago that I haven't even played.
Or hopefully with all the changes in the patch they'll combine to reduce the amount of gearing up I'll have to do.
At the very least it'll reduce the amount of gold I'll hemorrhage trying to work through Inferno!

Forgot to mention that jumped out at me, I think I'm around 600 and yeah that's exactly what I experience. Or arcane when I can't get out of the way like with a dozen invulnerable spiders in a narrow cave all dropping arcanes..
EDIT:

Build yourself a whirlwind barbarian then, as otherwise grinding out gold is pretty well mandatory if you want to progress anywhere past the fringes of Inferno. I make around 150-200 000 an hour, so that's 50-60 hours of grinding to afford the equipment I have on the monk. I have all of one piece of my equipment that I found myself (legendary shoulders), and the rest is all bought off the gold AH.
I spend a lot of time trying different builds, which does alleviate the grind somewhat. But if you're all about progressing thru to killing Inferno Diablo, go barbarian and whirl, whirl, whirl your way to glory.

Which ruin do you use on WW? I found it frustrating if I didn't use the one which lets me walk as I do it (like D2 ww).

I tried WW and couldn't maintain enough rage. I don't think I had a high enough crit.

I managed to solo Ghom + Siegebreaker last night on my monk. Ghom was one hell of a tough fight though, I had to re-spec to deadly reach, and kite him all over the room. If I could survive long enough to go toe to toe I would kill him in 20 seconds, but he just hits too hard.
Pretty pumped about the changes, can't wait to see how much damage seven sided is going to do when you pop FoL.

Yeah, I use Hurricane. Played with the double tornado build for a very small amount of time but I preferred just being able to go full speed with WW.
So the very first elite monster I killed post 1.04 I found set boots. Ended up being a half decent Zunimassa (spelling?) trail that I sold for 40M. Found Goldskin as well an hour later, sold for 9M, but thought they would be worth more - just so many of them found already.
You guys find any legendaries yet?

Stuck in the patch cycle
The client that came with the game doesn't match with the server the game connects to, so still waiting for the servers to sync up and finish maintenance (its been more than 24 hours already). Damn you Blizzard for making regional clients.

Yeah, I have the capped MF of 300 now. And more importantly, I play the game an embarrassing amount.

Thats gotta be worth a butt ton.
In related news I logged in for a few hours today, was excited to see if my WD was fun again.
Well noticing my bags were very full, I sold everything there, did a butcher run, about half way into that realize, #### I'm wearing my MF gear... TP back to town, check my chest, nothing there, sinking feeling grows in my stomach......
I sold 20 million worth of gear for my WD to a vendor, and its gone, gone I tells ya!
Well thats one way to come back to a game you gave up on lol

Rebuy is only last 12 items, I had made 2 vendor visits before realizing my horrendous mistake
