I vote for Steven Jyles as the worst QB in the CFL.

When I ask people to go to Stamps games, I always get the response of "Ugh, CFL sucks". Games like yesterday's aren't going to change that impression.

Plus, games are not as affordable as they used to be. That's a big factor.

I hear that all the time but I think there is more to it than that.

It is also about perception. People think the CFL sucks, and in certain areas they may have a point, but it is got to be in most cases at least on par with NCAA in terms of talent of the players and teams and yet they can fill 100k stadiums. If the CFL was an institution like college football I think we'd see people a lot more excited about games that we might now deem to be unimpressive. When we see 20-10 scores (or whatever it was yesterday) in the NFL and NCAA we hear about how defense wins championships and people who don't appreciate low scoring games just aren't educated on the sport and don't appreciate a tight low scoring defensive battle. It happens in the CFL and it is because the league and its players are all inept.

Even the NFL where the talent is undoubtedly higher they have a lot of crappy football games. But the hype machine is so strong that poor contests don't keep fans away.

Now I'm not gonna pretend that yesterdays game was fantastic but I watched it and found it to be watchable.

I've had 3 free tickets to the stamps I've asked multiple people and they just stopped replying to me. There is a lot of hate for the CFL, and after watching the debacle last night called a football I can see why. Then again these same people can watch a NFL game and enjoy a 10-7 game where every play is a rush.

I agree with you and Cecil about the CFL getting a bad rap. It has to be said though that hype matters as to how people percieve a live sporting event. The same people who can watch a 6-3 NFL snoozer and be engaged but can't bother to watch the CFL are the same people who refused to go to Flames games prior to '03-04 and all of a sudden post lockout have tickets to every game. If a team is the 'in' thing in town it seems that the on-field product is secondary for a lot of people.

I would be more interested in the CFL if there was more than eight teams. Six teams out of eight make the playoffs. The regular season is almost meaningless. I'm tired of watching the same eight teams over and over. Sometimes CGY plays the same team 3-4 times in a season.

10 teams would be good (add Quebec and Ottawa). Eventually 12 would be better - London, Maritimes, possibly Victoria or Okanagan?

What's all the Nick Lewis/media controversy I've sort of read about? Can't find any articles on it, etc.

Yup. Cgy plays every West team 3 times, except on a rotating basis they play one West team 4 times, then they play each East team twice. Total 18 games.

I do like seeing the Riders twice when I can here in Calgary but I can see why the repetition could bother some.

The playoff thing is the biggest joke. How does a league let 75% of its teams make the playoffs? That is a bit bush league (something I rarely call the CFL).

That being said, I believe that the number of 3rd seeds in either division to ever win the cup is pretty low. The better team tends to win almost every single year.

He tweeted this:
Today is the last time a give Ian Busby an interview. There is no quality to it. Down to Al Cameron. Best writer in Calgary

With exhibition and playoffs, it is possible to play the same team six times in one season.

The Lewis/Busby thing could be because of this article:

I had free tickets to the Argonauts game and felt lucky the tickets were free. A very boring game overall, but saying that I enjoy the CFL and hope it last for at least 100 more years.

If the Stampeders had a new stadium in the downtown area, they would get 35000+ on a regular basis easily.
