In regards to the size of the home - As the water level down here is quite shallow, there are no basements and therefore the size of most homes are larger than what we have come to expect in Calgary.

I think we are going to take this week to seriously consider this home. Not quite sure what we will do but I do appreciate the feedback you have all given.

Thanks for all the help!

I've been to Houston and even those inner city lots are humongous. Like a 2500 sq ft bungalow is pretty commond there but a 2500 sq ft bungalow will cost you an arm, a leg and your first couple new borns in Caglary.

I am also close to 22X, and I agree that trees are your friends.

The biggest concern is the 2nd floor windows. I am assuming that with that much square footage you are in a two story house.

However that being said the other factor is that I am sure you will have central air down there, so it isn't that big of an issue. That was one of my reasons for getting central air; so that I never had to worry about the noise.

If you can, schedule another viewing for around rush hour time and go there, sit on the back deck or in the back rooms with the windows open for 5-10 minutes and just listen for the noise levels. Odds are rush hour will be the heaviest traffic and depending on the noise levels, decide from there if its ok for you or not.

In exchange for constantly having to pee.

Just as a quick update. Went out to the house last night and sat in the backyard for close to 30 minutes while my son played at the park next to the house with my wife. I counted a total of 20 cars during that span. We caught the last 30 minutes of rush hour (6:00 - 6:30). I am going to try and get out and do that once again either today or tomorrow.

Found that I couldn't really hear the noise from the vehicles as the road is far enough away and the speed limit is slow enough.

I think I am just a little apprehensive as I have never lived in a home backing onto a road and this will also be our first big purchase down in the US.

Again, I appreciate all the helpful feedback you all have given!
