Yeah like Ken replied below (well below you, above me), from what I can tell, is that basically they can give you a "lifetime suspension" that actually expires.
Sometimes this misleads people and they think you're gone for good.
The major difference is that when you're sin binned you can basically surf CP like everything is fine except you can't post or PM. It keeps all your settings and remembers what posts/threads you've read.
When you're under a lifetime suspension, permanent or not, you can't do anything when you log in. All it does is tell you when the ban is over.

Now every dolt that acts like **** and gets banned, just waits a week and then signs up again. So there techinically is now no such thing as getting banned from Calgarypuck.
So not only do we get all the idiots back right after they're banned, but they also act more trollish and stupid than they used too, because they no there's no real consequence.

If I've contributed to this I apologize. There is also stuff behind the scenes between the poster who is returning and the mods that maybe is missed so to the casual observer it may appear that they just snuck back in and the mods aren't doing anything about it but really they've already discussed it with the poster in private.

I'm still kind of a ###### but I have gotten better at hiding it. It is really just that I can be somewhat pessimistic when reading replies (I often misconstrue stuff and assume I'm being attacked when I'm not).

I'm actually really good at it.
But he's a good poster, though. His rebuttles may be long winded and very frequent, and he certainly never lets anything go without having the last word, but at least his posts are generally well informed, articulate and he'll stay on topic when arguing.
The alternative is a lot of posters who use so many words and posts to say so little, and they constantly change the topic or move the goalposts when arguing and faced with facts or they get disproven.
Cecil's a very honest debater, in that he takes arguments head on and doesn't pussyfoot around issues, or do any of that deflecting, topic changing BS, that's becoming so common on CP.

Does this count as having the last word? haha.
Yeah even in real life I'm a last word guy. My problem is that I can't have a debate without taking it personally. this leads even the most civil debates to become heated, gets even worse if the person does make it personal by resorting to insults or name calling.
Usually now if a post gets me a bit riled up or even if I suspect any type of situtation will arise that will cause me to be stupid I'll force myself to not reply for at least a day, sometimes not at all. Keeps me from getting into that argue it to the death zone and that leads to me saying crap that I don't mean just because I'm frustrated. Obviously it doesn't always work though.

OMG this is undoubtedly true. I've honestly edited posts 6 months old that no one will ever, ever read again because I found it in a search by accident and couldn't help myself.
There are a few reasons for my constant editing though. I'm impulsive. This means I post things without reading them through. Often times that means they contain attacks or other stupid crap that I eventually edit out after thinking better of it. It's also because I'm often typing too fast and my ability to type well thought out ideas is too slow for my brain and stuff ends up being nonsensical if I don't go back and clarify.
I also edit for grammar and spelling and that type of stuff a lot.
I'm sorry. This whole post is a bit self serving and contributes almost nothing to the topic. It is nice to have someone (or even a few people!!) finally say that I'm tolerable. Oh do I ever try to not take #### on the internet seriously but I can't help it. Cp is very interesting to me though. The whole idea of having a community with its own norms and memes etc and most of us will never meet is a bit odd to me. I don't mean bad odd, it just isn't what I expected when I first came here. In that sense I think it is almost flattering for CP as a whole that so many people who were rejected/banned from the community want to come back.
