Default Problem with Vehicle Vandalizer

Apparently one of our neighbors are pissed off at our householdand decided to scratch both of our cars with what looks to be car keys. I know a fact this is a personal attack and not random one, because both vandalizing incidents happened at different times, on the same side of two different vehicles and the scratch streaks are very similar to one another... coincidence? I also know that this person lives around us because the fact that I had arrived home from work one night at 11:45 pm, where the car had no noticeable damages.... next morning huge streaks were found on the right side of the vehicle.

Any suggestions on what I should do? I feel this is too minor of a incident for the police to get involved with.

Thanks.

Security cameras. Flames_Gimp caught some perps with them.

I don't know you want to throw any money at this, but I'd take a trip down to one of those security stores, and spend a few bucks on a small, descrete camera, and have it face the area.

One guy in particular has told me that we are not allowed to have dogs in the condo community even though my parents own the complex. He has done this multiple times... and I'm having a hard time figuring out why he cares so god damn much about our dog when it doesn't even affect him. We pick up our dog's #### every time, and he doesn't bark that often (only when some one rings the door bell). I just have a gut feeling this is the prick.

Thousands of dollars in vandalism is not too small for police to get involved with.

I think it would be pretty foolish not to report it just in case they do it again to your cars or other cars. At least if the cops know there is a vandalism problem in that area then they might patrol the area a bit more heavily and be on the lookout for that type of thing.

Gentlemen, I have no need for you to vandalize my cars, Goodbye....then you proceed to reach for your gun, and grab air because you live in Canada where only criminals and the police carry guns. Your criminal neighbor then shoots you in the face.

There should be a terms of existence or something similar if owning a condo. But owning a condo does not entitle you to do things outside of the rules that your condo board set.

Unless you have a different explanation, this sounds like you are breaking the rules and don't really have much of a case. The dog not "affecting him" and cleaning up its poop are not justifications for keeping the dog around either.

I hate to be the bad guy, but you may not have much of a case here unless you get the security camera and catch him doing something. Then things get significantly different.

Yes, I should have been more clear. Few months ago, my parents did in fact had clearance that we are allowed to own a dog in our condo. Many people also own dogs within our condo community.

Put an anonymous note on the suspect's car that says "I know what you did to the cars, I have video, please come discuss with me tomorrow."

This actually worked for me a 5+ years ago, when I was living in Prestwick.

In the end the person came to me and confessed that he keyed my car, along with 3 others. He ended up paying for all the damage to my car. Not sure how the other 3 people handled it.

Talk with the condo board and maybe they can remind him about the condo rules.

Yes, the police will come and patrol the area (a condo complex) heavily, on the lookout for a person walking, who might be holding keys. This is the best idea you've had today.

Don't the OPs parents own the complex? So why not just get him evicted if hes a tenant based on some other issues that you could likely come up with (assuming this isn't a real condominium, which implies ownership)

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."
