Default LTE in Calgary - Rogers or Telus?

I was curious if anyone has compared, either on their own device, or anecdotally with friends, what their LTE experience is on the two networks.

Given the choice, is Telus or Rogers the superior LTE provider in this area?

Well... I work downtown, so I get full LTE coverage when I'm at the office, but my condo is south of Heritage, just off MacLeod, and I only get LTE there with Telus. Rogers always switches back to whatever the slower one is (3G/4G/HSPRGHTYAHS or whatever the weekly carrier-assigned marketing term for "not very fast" is).

LTE is LTE, so the only thing that really matters right now is coverage, and in my neck of the woods, Telus seems to be winning. I've seen people complain about only getting 1 bar, but in my experience, 1 bar of LTE blows 5 bars of anything else out of the water.

LTE in my opinion is pretty much useless until they deploy it over the 700mhz spectrum.

Sure you get great spead, but the coverage isn't very good. Not sure what bands they are using right now, but the 700mhz band will be superior in terms of coverage and building penetration.

I disagree. I mean, of course it will be better when there is more coverage, but it's far from useless. I would have a hard time convincing myself to buy any communication device that doesn't have LTE right now. Not a fan of gearing up for the past at all.

Seems to me that Telus would be the choice here in Alberta. I seemingly get LTE coverage in most areas of the city. My friend who is on Rogers says he barely has any coverage when he drove Calgary->Van this summer whereas I know I have full bars for most of that drive.

I've pretty much settled on Telus - from what I understand, they implement HSDPA+ as opposed to Rogers' HSDPA (so 42 mbps vs 21 mbps) when LTE isn't available.

Telus over Rogers.

As a side note, apparently Bell has full coverage over all of Calgary for LTE so I wonder how much of that is the joint effort with Telus.

Bell and Telus share the HSDPA+ network so I assume it's the same for LTE.

Just looking at the coverage maps Telus's LTE reaches far further than Rogers.

And following that logic, get service on Virgin, not Bell. It is the same towers as Telus which is the winner here, and is much cheaper. That is what I do.
