A collective effort from the entire squad will be required to replace RvP's impact from last season.

Arsenal are trying to make a statement this summer and allowing him to stay would be taking a couple of steps backward. They need to show that you are either 'in' or 'in the way' and that all obstacles will be removed. As his statement, which is almost un-retractable, shows he is clearly not 'in' with the Arsenal. As such, he must leave.

How can this be done? Tell him he can either lower his wage demands to push through a deal we find acceptable or he can rot on the bench. As part of this stance, we should have left him off the plane to Germany this week. Arsenal must sell him.

I agree. I cant see keeping van Persie if he wont sign. Unfortunately, that will affect his sale price. Arsenal just have to try and find the happy medium.

I dont get why this angers him? Robinho clearly hated his time in Manchester and probably knows Moura better than SAF.

So if a player tells another player that a certain city sucks based on the fact that the two players probably have similar expectations of the city they live in then who cares?

"Drat! He found out before we could trap him here!"
of course this angers him. Wouldn't you be pissed if Liverpool were on the verge of signing a key player for a big fee, but then a former Everton player - let's say Rooney - comes along and tells the guy that the city of Liverpool sucks and he should go somewhere else instead of joining Liverpool. Don't tell me that you wouldn't be pissed ...

Robinho and this 'former Everton player' would both be telling the truth...

I think even if RVP stays a collective effort will be required to replace his impact

he had basically the perfect season

Carloza certainly helps, if Ox plays more he should as well

No way, you just bid good riddance. If it was that easy to change his mind the guy is probably a flake who wasnt in it for the long haul anyways.

well, according to his sneaky agent, the deal with United was already agreed when PSG came along:

"Everything was agreed between São Paulo and Manchester United. The contract had been written and just needed to be signed. But then Leonardo [PSG Sporting Director] called me and asked to talk to Lucas. They talked. Leonardo was helped by the fact he is Brazilian. He was very gentle with Lucas. The possibility of living in Paris - a much more pleasant city than Manchester - also influenced his decision. But it was PSG's project that impressed Lucas."

Okay, thats a pissoff, but its clearly not Robinho's fault or anything like that. PSG just poached a player. Something that United should be well accustomed to.

Sounds like Van Persie is coming to United. I hate to be the pessimist, but the club is quite thin in centre back at the moment, and feel that's where their efforts should be prioritized.
Seeing Mancini get his panties in a knot, makes me smile though...

Carrick will be starting the season as centre back for United, and for England next Wednesday as the holder -- as Stuart Parker is hurt.

No Stevie G, JT or Roonie - but Fat Frank is back. Interesting to see how Walcott plays as a forward too.

this season could get ugly for Swansea. Coach Rodgers gone, loaned players Caulker and Sigurdsson gone, Allen probably gone to Liverpool, Sinclair probably gone to Man City ... de Guzman is a nice loan addition though, but he alone won't make a difference.

It's a shame, I really enjoyed Swansea last season.

Rodgers and Ledley King's knees really screwed them over

If Rodgers stays than Gylfi and Allen are still there, and if King hadn't retired the plan was to give Caulker another year on loan

Yep, they were a treat the last year. Would take points from the big clubs with regularity, and they still have one of the best holding midfielders in the prem.

Isn't that what happened with the Oilers and Michael Nylander? Minus the embarrassing announcement that he's already signed....same thing! Both contracts were signed waiting for a signature that never came through. Whatever. The fact that you label the agent sneaky...well he's an agent, and that's his job. Also, PSG with their current money are pretty well guaranteed titles, so it makes sense.

Nylanders wife wouldn't move to Edmonton.
