SeeBass.... those are clouds, not smoke. we were only smoky for about a week back in early july - the americans really wanted to share their smoke i guess!
Table 5.... the weather is usually nice and warm to late october, early november (but i should mention that i'm one of these guys that wears shorts pretty much year round)
as for the water - honestly, i have no clue. i'm not a beach bum. i don't remember the last time i swam i lake okanagan. i've got buddies of mine that go out on the water year round - they just wear a drysuit (i think) when it's cold. i would imagine the lake stays warm well into october. right now we're finally 'cooling down' to the low 30's. the last couple weeks have been a wee bit gross.

Aspen beach at gull lake is actually quite nice, the water is high this year so the beach is much smaller. But nice shallow water for quite a ways out, sandy bottom.
The thing about this lake is I'm aware of two incidents (over 15 years) of family getting latched by a leach...so it always kind of freaks me out wading around in that water.
Can anyone confirm or deny leaches being in gull lake? If these were just isolated incidents then I will probably still go in the water, but if that thing has any sniff of infestation I'm staying the heck on land...

When I was 5 or so I had a couple leaches latch onto me. Been there once since and no leeches but that's a small sample.

All shallow (warm) prairie lakes will have leaches. If you can handle mosquitoes, wasps, etc. in the air, the leaches shouldn't concern you. A quick shot of salt and those little suckers fall right off. A little blood letting will do you good!
Stay out of stagnant reeds and shallow warm water and your chances of seeing them will drop significantly.
