Maybe there is a bit of jealousy there but it's mostly due to the arrogance of the US athletes and broadcasters.
In 2008 in Beijing the medal standings were always by the total number of medals, but because the US was trailing China but had more Gold, NBC had them on top!
Course NBC as of today switches it back now that the US has more medals but China has more gold medals. hahaha

I wonder if those ball sizes are standardized. Bigger balls would probably be an unfair advantage.

Warner didn't fair well during the polevault and its still going.. chances are he might be around rank 3-5 when its done (depending on the other peoples performances)

Really? I thought he was in 4th with two events left that he's not very good at.
You're saying he might get a bronze? That would be great.

Douglas isn't even the best gymnast. She did not make one single event final.
Russia's Mustafina got 4 medals (1G, 1S, 2B) out of a possible 6.
But who cares about her?

Well Usain has only gotten 1 of his 3 gold medals so far. But even if he only wins the 200 and not relay he would be the star of the games.
They say he might start running the 400 metres again in the near future. That would be great to watch. This guy is awesome!

At the beginning of the comp Mike Smith said he was aiming for a top 12 finish, so even a 6-9th should be pretty good for him.

Yes, but she's not African American. I hate to attribute any of her success in the media to race, but just reading the article makes it overwhelmingly apparent that is the case.

Warner update: He's sitting 4th with two events left. If he matches his PB in the javelin (61.58m) he'll likely go into the 1500m in about 6th. Suarez will pick up a ton of points in javelin to pass him and probably move to third behind the Americans and Freimuth (GER) and Van Alphen (BEL) will probably also be ahead of him in the race for bronze. I have no idea how any of them are in the 1500m but Warner has done well in the speed events so far so he may have a shot.
If everybody matches their PB in javelin the standings heading to the 1500 would be:
8144 Eaton, US
8033 Hardee, US
7787 Suarez, Cuba
7741 Freimuth, Germany
7721 Van Alphen, Belgium
7678 Warner, Canada
7614 Karpov, Kazakhstan

Field hockey is quite interesting how the ref interacts with everyone.
The German guy scored but his stick was above his shoulder. The ref went to replay, you could here him talking to the replay official. Then once he disallowed the goal, you could hear him explaining it to the Germans and the Germans arguing. Not necessarily about the disallowed goal but where the ball should be.. should have been a corner or something.
I wish the NHL was this open. Refs with mics!

There shootout process is also quite interesting to watch. Best of 5 shooters, 8 secs to do whatever you need to do including shooting your own rebound

Well that was certainly worth opening the shop late this morning. I can sum the Women's match simply, Canada was robbed then stole one back for the Bronze.
Huge congrats to them. They did wonders for their sport today.
Matheson one of the smaller players on the team such a constant workhorse in the midfield she deserved the winner.
Congrats to Verbeek taking advantage with the draw and wasting no time sealing the win to battle for the Gold.

Australia doing their best Calgary Flames impersonation. Up 2-1 with 17 minutes left, they sit back and give up TWO goals to the Germans in 5 minutes (even with the disallowed goal). Germans still attacking...
It's been a horible Olympics for the Aussies.
Edit: make that 4-2.
