Default WEEK 7: STAMPEDERS at Hamilton

Calgary Stampeders' inconsistencies showed up again last game BC Lions. That was the worst game they played so far this season scoring 8 points, 0 Touchdown, 21:10 minutes time of possessions, 29 rushing yards, 3 turnovers. On the other hand, Burris and company won 3 games in a row and are the hottest team in the CFL right now. Henry Burris won the Offensive Player of the Week, then Offensive Player of the Month of July. How is that for a washed-up QB?

OFFENSE:
It is easy to blame Kevin Glenn for every lost by the Stampeders but last game was an exception. He was not great but he was not awful either. Offensive Line was at loss couldn't protect the QB or give the RB some room to run. RB Jon Cornish or Coker was not a big help either only rushing for 29 rushing yards. I believed Cornish went negative yards for the game. So far the only consistent positive in the offense so far this season is the play of Nik Lewis 6 for 82 yards..yes he had some drop balls but he's got more positives than negatives so far. Marquay McDaniel is another plus for the Stamps' offense with 5 catches for 53 yards last week. Romby Bryant is slowly picking up his play but we definitely need to get him going. Johnny Forzani had a rough game dropping a couple of easy catch. There is going to be another shuffle in OLine in this game. Deane will start as a right tackle and Spencer Wilson will be playing his 2nd game this season will play alongside Deane.

DEFENSE:
Defense gave up 30 points and over 400 yards to BC Lions. They started well but got tired and started losing focus and started making mistakes, They were on the field for over 30 minutes chasing Travis Lulay and company. Only positive on Defense was Corey Mace recording one sack and a forced fumble.

SPECIAL TEAM:
Not a lot actions on Stamps special team vs the Lions. Paredes was perfect 2 for 2 on field goals and now 11 for 12 in the season.
KR Larry Taylor had his streak of 200-yard games of combined yards broken at three and was held to a season-low total of 86 yards. Taylor is still second in the CFL in combined yards with 1,132.
Calgary gave up a touchdown off a turnover on downs in the third quarter against the Lions when Arjei Franklin failed to pick up a first down on a fake punt.

I hope the bye week will help the Stamps' focus and start playing consistent game. I also hope they watched the replays of their 5 games so far and see what they are doing wrong. Not so sure of our chances in beating the TigerCats on this game but every game is a mystery and I am hoping the right Stampeders show up tomorrow.

GO STAMPS GO!!!

Hopefully they have figured a few things out starting with how to run the ball effectively. The biggest problem I have with them is that they have no swagger, Tate had/has it, since he went out, the team hasn't had it.

Hamilton is not a great place for the Stamps, I still have hope but it could get ugly in a hurry.

I've been keeping up with the Stamps from a distance the last few weeks. From what I understand, Forzani has been nothing short of awful. I just looked at the starting lineup and he's not on there. Healthy scratch? Or is he hurt?

AFAIK the only "hurt" on him is his confidence/focus, and it is shattered. If he is not playing tobight, i would suggest this is the coaching staff giving him a chance to reset things...he has been pretty bad for sure. Hopefully this gets him back on track.

Raymond coming back is huge for the Stamps. Their secondary has been pretty bad with him out. On the offense, if I'm the coach I'm starting Coker tonight.

You know Burris is going to be super amped for this one.

Woot Matt is back in the lineup! and it's Walter and Walker. He can't be any worse than Coker or Cornish has been the past 3 weeks.

Good thing we traded away a MOP candidate so an unproven, injury prone, hippie from Texas, could be our QB!

I sure hope this doesn't turn out to be a Mike Vernon/Trevor Kidd thing, but so far it sure is looking like it.

The real Burris will show up in the playoffs and Hamilton will be knocked out in their first playoff game.

Taylor has been giving the Stamps pretty decent field position almost every return. Glenn and the coaching staff need to capitalize.
Lewis is the MVP of the offence and a tremendous leader by example, and i don't have tremendous worries on our D other than at Safety so far. But they are on the field way too much.
Honest I blame so far more than anything the O-line and the OC/HC poor playcalling.

Dickenson has not done a very good job using Cornish properly at all. Yes the O-line has been terrible with runs up the middle.
But where are the simple screen passes and pitches to the outside to Cornish. Hell throw set up a bubble screen on the outside.

6 rushing attempts last week and the 1 time they got Cornish on a pitch to the outside he went for 15 success, only for it to called back on a OT hold.

Not many QB's can do much if the run game is completely abandoned.
Huff has every season ran into the same issue Joffery not enough carries and then usually 1/2 way through the season the coaching staff clues in. Now its Cornish. Damn Huff/DD get Cornish on the outside.
Glenn is far from the talent Burris is. Doesn't have the arm or accuracy, can't make the same plays with his feet.
Surely Huff realizes this right, then why is he using him as if he still has Burris.
Establish the run so Glenn can get something going in the passing game again. Glenn is inconsistent and cement footed enough he doesn't need help with D cord having his players pin their ears back and bullrush the Oline.
Anyways that's my rant.

If you're going to hit the returner before he touches the ball make it worth it! Drive him into the ground at least...

Seemed like a fumble, but it was a close play. I'm surprised they saw enough to overturn it though.
