Why?? It probably is the cause, it puts extra pressure on everything. Seems sort of hap hazard to throw an extra 2 liters of oil when your car probably only takes 4-5 to begin with.

It's been about two weeks that on te Tune In Radio app I've been unable to get the Fan 960 or 590. When I select one of those stations, it says it's unavailable and switches me automatically to some station from the States. TSN works fine.
Also, the overall quality has been poor lately. Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks.

What's with all the flatlanders swarming crossiron mills? Is it the Mecca of lloydminster? Are people from Regina scared to actually drive into Calgary proper? Also, why are there so many people at a mall on a 30+ day on a "long" weekend?

I am going to Toronto this weekend with my wife for a wedding.
The timeline is that we will take an overnight flight and land Friday morning at 6 AM and will rent a car. We need to be in Wiarton (Bruce Peninsula about 200 km NW of the airport) for dinner on Friday. On Sunday we fly out at 6 PM and have the rest of the day open.
Neither of us have been to the area before and we don't have a ton of time but would like to do something on the Friday and Sunday. I don't mind driving out of the way but also don't want to spend the whole day driving. Niagara Falls has been suggested, as has going into Toronto or going straight to the hotel and swimming/relaxing.
Any suggestions from the CP brain trust? Will traffic be terrible if we try to head into the core at 7 in the morning and then leave the area for cottage country Friday afternoon?
Thanks

I got a speeding ticket today going 40 in a 30 zone. The ticket is $79.
Anyone have an idea of how many demerits it will be and how it will affect my insurance? Cop didn't know. Thanks in advance!

10 over is 2 demerits IIRC. If it's your only ticket it generally won't affect your insurance.

Depends on what you like doing.
If you're already driving to Bruce you may not want to add the extra drive to the Falls unless you really want to see the Falls. Depending on how fast you drive its over 1.5 hours anyway.
Traffic starts to ramp up past 7 in the morning. If you land on time and don't get stuck at the airport you should be okay. I'm assuming you're Domestic so no Customs worries.
There's plenty of attractions in Toronto if you're so inclined: ROM, HHOF, Science Centre, Toronto Zoo, Casa Loma.
If nature is your thing there are places closer than Niagara Falls in Niagara Region in general.
680 news gives regular cottage country traffic updates on the weekends. If its not a holiday weekend shouldn't be too bad unless there's an accident on the 401 or 400.

The out of towners are hitting up some no PST shopping before heading east. also, Cross Iron has been promoted there as an 'outlet mall' so maybe people are expecting deals like the outlet malls in the States.

If u have time go fight it and ask if they can change the ticket to something else so it doesn't effect your insurance. I had a ticket for careless driving turned into a firelane parking ticket. Same price but it saved me from my insurance spiking up. It's absolutely worth it as your insurance will be effected.

Normally one 10 over ticket shouldn't affect your record, I get a ticket every 2-3 years and they don't seem to care. You said you were doing 40 in a 30? if that's a playground zone then that's a different story. It's still worth going to the courthouse and trying to get it changed/reduced, you have nothing to lose.

Won't cost you any demerits if you are able to go fight it. 95% of the time they'll offer you a deal saying that if you just pay the full fine they won't put the demerits on your record. You don't even need a lawyer, just go to the traffic court on the day and fight it. Come up with some BS excuse beforehand of why you were speeding so you don't sound dumb when they ask you. Make it about the conditions of the road like 'I felt I had to be going that speed to safely merge', or 'the sign wasn't clearly visible' not, 'I was late for a meeting'.
Of course, you'd have to be able to spend 1-4 hours waiting there that day, so if you have an important job it may not work.
And if anyone gets mad at me for this advice as some people do (I'm responsible for MY actions sir!) I got this advice from a police officer. I'm sure many lawyers would encourage action in the system too. If you have the legal defense, why not use it?
Though I just noticed it was a school zone I'm assuming? 30 km/h? That might be tougher. Either way, they generally just want to get you out of there fast and get their money fast so they'll deal with you.

You can go anytime before your court date. I went about a year or two ago to fight a parking infraction and it was about a 15 minute wait to see a justice. The only bonus of waiting for your court date is that the cop might not show, of course if he does then you have a witness testifying against you.

The words to use when contesting a ticket and asking for a reduction are: "I would like to keep the integrity of my license". Sort of implies your guilt, yet allows you to not get demerits.

Are you outside of Canada or are you using a DNS/VPN service to make your internet traffic look that way? I found that some Rogers stations (Fan 960, 660 News) weren't working for me as well when going through my home router (which uses Unblock-Us), but if I don't go through that router (work, cell network, etc.) it works fine.
I'm not sure if this is a new geoblocking policy by Rogers or if it is just something temporary. I do know that the one "local" BBC station that I listen to (which is normally available outside of the UK without any special tricks) has become geoblocked for the duration of the Olympics. Apparently this is because some of the content was being broadcast from an Olympic site and therefore could not be streamed internationally as it would step on the toes of broadcasters in other countries. So even though no actual Olympic event was being broadcast, the simple fact that it was coming from an Olympic venue was enough that the BBC wasn't allowed to stream it internationally.
I'm not sure if something similar is happening with Rogers' stations, and that also wouldn't explain why TSN works for you. But all I know is that when my internet connection is "Canadian", it works, and when it isn't, it doesn't.

Does anyone know when I turn on my TV system (big-screen TV, PVR, receiver), not once do all of the components come on? Always something stays off and I have to hit help and then go through the process of activating the offending component. Sorry, I'm not at home so don't know the component brands, if that matters.

I'm guessing it's your PVR that isn't coming on with the rest of the components. If yours is anything like mine I find the PVR turns on a little bit slower than my TV and receiver. To rectify this, I simply make sure to keep the remote pointed at the PVR until it comes on (so I don't break the IR signal).

Also you can set how long your remote sends signals or delay a signal. I know I had to edit how my remote cycled the inputs on my tv because it was going too fast and would cause my TV to be on the wrong input.
Edit: I was assuming you had a logitech remote.

Thanks! I live in Brazil but have had no problems In the past few years til now. The Olympics are a likely cause, so I'll wait and see if it is still that way Monday. I'll let you know.

Sometimes it is the PVR, but sometimes the PVR is already on because it's recording a program and then the TV or receiver doesn't turn on. If all three components are off, then which component fails to turn on seems to happen randomly (sometimes the PVR, the TV or the receiver).
