Default Olympic GDT - 2 August

Might be the last GDT I do for a few days, since my brother is arriving tomorrow. Someone else might need to take up the mantle.

Canadian athletes in action today
(UK time)

For a list of every Canadian in every event, check: http://olympic.ca/canadian-schedule

10:30 Rowing – Women’s Lightweight Double Sculls Semi Finals, Eton Dorney
Lindsay Jennerich, winner of the world title in 2010 and a World Cup event in 2011, teams up with Olympic newcomer Patricia Obee for this event.

12:30 Rowing - Women’s Eight Final, Eton Dorney
Watch the Canadian women battle against their American rivals as they go for gold in the women’s eight final. The Canadians have come close to beating the strong U.S. crew in the past and were just 0.03 of a second behind in the World Cup in May. Lesley Thompson-Willie is an experienced cox – this is her seventh Olympics in this event.

19:38 Women’s 200m Breaststroke Final, Aquatics Centre
World Championship bronze medalist Martha McCabe from Toronto competes in today’s final. If she gets a medal it will be the first time a Canadian woman has won an Olympic swimming medal since 1996. Go Martha!

What else is going on today?
Other Olympic events today include the women’s individual all-round final in gymnastics, women’s 100m freestyle swimming event; men’s 200m individual medley and women’s team sprint cycling.

I'm off to beach volleyball this afternoon. As far as I can tell I won't be seeing any Canadians playing so I have to support my second country, Hup Holland Hup!

I would love to pick up the GTD responsibility, but I am heading to the coast to do a little surfing Friday-Saturday so I won't be around.

Lets go Canadian Women moving through water!

Just discovered my beach volleyball tickets for Saturday afternoon are for the men's. FML

Canadian men better make it through to play then so that I have some minor if inadequate hint of redemption.

Good race. The Americans were ahead by at least half a boat for most of the time. Nice push for Canada not to fall to bronze. The Dutch were close.

This is by far the best week for it to be slow at work. Watching women's slalom finals right now.

So much drama!! Use your fricking brain and tank the game in a less obvious way. I have no problem with cheating or lying to get ahead. hehe She must be the stoopidest chinese person in the world.

But the drama has already been too much for Yang, who said on her Twitter-like Weibo account: "This is my last time competing. Goodbye beloved badminton. What you've cancelled is not just a game, but my dream!''

Sounds like she's going to the labour camps or something.

Meanwhile, ping pong is on.. I woke up early just for this!

It's 840am. shouldn't you be at work?

You'd be more asian if you were holding your ping pong racquet mimicking moves while watching it on tv.
