That "Russian"is an American who was given Russian citizenship to play on the basketball team. I heard about it long ago and when I just saw the highlights I thought "of course"

There seems to be quite a few of us here in London.

A Flames game at The Albion in Blackfriars (Sleemans on tap) could be called for.

Back on topic, that had to be painful for the ladies in the basketball. I just had an awful feeling that would happen, the nerves were kicking in - evident from the missing of so many free throws with the opportunity to put the Russians 12-13 points behind.

Yeah looking pretty ugly after day one, but it Canada always seems to put up poor results in the first few days. Once they win a medal or two then things usually get rolling.

Yeah I'm in for a flames game.

I'm not too worried about the Canadian team after the first (official) day. We seem to be an Olympic team that could be classified as a grower after the last few Olympics.

So is it true that Canada house is the official Canada Olympic house? So far I'm too scared to head down to city centre the last week.

If anyone wants to watch the Olympics via the BBC website ...

1. http://unblock-us.com/

No software or downloads required. Just need to follow the instructions to change the DNS on your computer and reboot.

2. Watch anything you want from the BBC Olympic coverage, live or in the past. The BBC's Olympic website is great.

The streaming quality is excellent, even on a large screen the picture is pretty good.

Bonus: no commercials.

And another bonus: The seek bar is categorized, so you can easily find where you want to jump to in the broadcast.
ie: 100m finals, 200m finals, etc.

Swimming was just awesome today. 16 year old Ye Shiwen won the 400 M Individual Medley and shattered the world record. If you watched the race you saw her incredible final 100 M. Her freestyle lap was unbelievable.

First time I've ever really watched the swimming events with more than a passing interest.

They said that her 100m freestyle time was the same as LOCHTE'S!
Although Lochte probably eased up a bit since he had a big lead.. that's still insane.

Yeah that was pretty cool, it was like she saved it all for that last 100m. I love sports.

I guess Americans don't really care about the Olympics in general, but you'd figure by 2012 they would have better coverage. They haven't even shown the Serena Williams match yet.
Actually the coverage has been very extensive and CBC like. It is all on the secondary channels owned by NBC like Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, telemundo.

I've been watching the games seamlessly on NBC's website which you can only access only if you subscribe to MSNBC and CNBC at least for Comcast customers.

Nothing beat's NBC's coverage if you want prime time highlights of the day with an American bias and flair for dramatic.

I think Canada House is reserved for family, sponsors etc. You need a pass to get in. I could be wrong but I thought I read this a few weeks ago.

My fiancee went to it yesterday, I watched online. Some of those girls (not just the Asians) are tiny teenagers but the weights they lift are quite impressive.
