I left home to wander down to get a spot to watch the end of the race. Obviously had no idea that a Colombian and a Kazakh had struck out in the lead while I waited so what a surprise when they passed since they hadn't been mentioned all telecast. Brits are devastated that Cavendish couldn't get led out to a sprint position.

Wimbledon looks really weird with all that purple.

So is our swimmer Cochrane out again?:

South Korea's Park Tae-hwan has been reinstated in Saturday's 400m freestyle final at the London Olympics after winning an appeal against a disqualification.

Park, defending the Olympic title he won in Beijing four years ago, was initially disqualified after officials ruled that he false-started in his morning heat in the Aquatics Centre but won an appeal to overturn the decision.

Germany's Paul Biedermann, the world record holder for the event, missed out on the final after finishing 12th overall in 3:48.50.

We purple and green are the colours of the AELTC so it's not that out-of-place although usually everything is just green around the courts. Looks like there's no one there, although that's court five in the foreground so maybe that's just a practice court during the Olympics?

It looks like a different sort of purple.. magenta? AELTC is darker purple.

yeah I think they're using less courts.

Marty Reader is a buddy of mine... real good to see him and Binstock look so confident after all they had to go through to qualify for these games. They took the Brazilians to three sets earlier this year so hopefully they can pull a fast one on them later in the pool draw.

As for Cochrane losing his spots in the finals... that's gotta hurt. I can't possibly imagine finishing 9th in 2008, training hard for 4 years and then having it taken away from you again. That has to be incredibly frustrating.

Also Christine Sinclair is a beast.... great competitor.

Wow just caught the highlights of the Russia/Canada basketball. How typical we choke a 12 point lead in the 4th quarter and getting schooled by a Russian named Becky Hammond. haha

It's still crazy to me how NBC does not have much Live coverage in its programming. How can the Canadian networks always have the best live coverage when a network like NBC has next to nothing?

I guess Americans don't really care about the Olympics in general, but you'd figure by 2012 they would have better coverage. They haven't even shown the Serena Williams match yet.

It's not that Americans don't care but NBC pays so much for the rights that they need to put things in primetime in order to get the ratings and justify the advertising.

The Olympics become a tv show, not a sporting event. Americans really care but they're used to watching it as a packaged show (usually with the wife).
