The mast gives Bane analgesic which limits the amount of pain Bane feels from his past and present injuries.

So he wasn't targetting his mask in the first fight? Why wouldn't he? Clearly the mask was important for some reason if not just that it protected his face. Hell even Bane figured it out to break Batman's mask in the first fight why could Batman have figured that out?

Eitherway, that's a stupid way to 'outsmart' the enemy. It would have been better to beat Bane on Batman's terms not Bane's. The whole final battle scene was just poor and anticlimactic as a way to set up the Talia introduce. Too bad.

No in the first fight Batman gets destroyed, he isn't targeting the mask. He lands maybe 2 punches that whole fight. He didn't target Bane's mask in the first fight because he was not aware of how important it was until he was in the pit and the guy told him. Also in the first fight Batman wasn't himself, he was being cocky and not focused or fearful of death which caused him to fight poorly and very stupid. I'm not sure what you are talking about with the whole Bane figured out to break Batman's mask?

I disagree, Banes only weakness was the mask so that's your only avenue to exploit. So agree to disagree.

Just to respond to your spoiler tag first:

Does it not make Bane MORE badass given that he doesn't need some sort of venom to boost his strength but has physically built himself to that peak? Just my opinion.

Batman could barely touch Bane during their first fight. The point was to show that Batman was cocky enough to think he could just throw on a knee brace and take out a villain 1-on-1 no problem, and that he failed miserably in the regard. Its pretty much the whole reason for his growth in prison. He has to become Batman again.

Kinda like Rocky III, when Rocky fought Clubber the first time, he was unfocused and didn't train properly. Batman had to go down in the depths and learn to be hungry again, just like Rocky did in training with Apollo.

In the rematches, both Rocky and Batman took their opponents off their game by being hungry, focused, and strategic.

So I'm not the only one who listened to Fatman on Batman and Smodcast this week.

Article on possibility of filling the gaps of the Dark Knight saga with comic books. I have to admit, the possibility of a Nightwing/Robin movie as a continuation of the Nolan universe intrigues me. Especially if they could get the supporting cast to remain.

For those that want to read more about Batman take a look at this:

http://comics.ign.com/articles/624/624619p1.html

I don't know anything about comics or graphic novels so I can't comment on the selections there. Perhaps someone that knows a bit can suggest additional reading material for those that are interested in learning about the superheroes and villains of the Batman universe.

That was a great list although I haven't read over half of those. All of the top 5 though.

Just happy to see year one is first. TDKR is good but not better than year one.

That's Returns btw not rises. And there is only 1 Arkham Asylum and it's not a video game but it's on that list.

I disagree with the opinion that Bane was a mere pawn in the plan, if anything Bane and Talia were cohorts, or lovers engaged in a suicide pact for the beginning as they were both willing to die for their cause. However, one of Bane's causes was always being the one to rescue Talia as he did in the pit. Which is why he was "born in the darkness"; as he likely spent all of his life in the pit until the League of Shadows got him out after he helped save Talia. That's probably 20+ years in the pit, and then the training with the League and Ra's al Ghul only helped him in becoming an expert mercenary. However, his goals and character were even too extreme for the League.

Bane received joy from watching others suffer, he also had no honor for anyone other other than Talia. Talia was the reason Ra's went back for Bane in the pit, and stuck by him even after he was excommunicated, which is why he is only honorable for her and no one else. This is why he had no problem in watching people that helped him with his plan die throughout the movie. He choked out Daggett (and others), then didn't even care when Daggett's assistant was "exiled"; in fact he was knitting in the back of the courtroom or whatever. But he sure as heck wanted to be in that courtroom to take pleasure watching the rich and powerful of Gotham suffer.

Finally regarding the battles there was obviously a great difference in who Bane fought in the sewers, and then in front of the courthouse. He wasn't fighting Batman at first, really he was just fighting Bruce Wayne with a cape and cowl. It was quite evident that Wayne took Bane lightly, since as he said he was able to beat Ra's, then he should have been able to take down some schmo who was thrown out of the League without breaking a sweat. The Bruce/Alfred scenes prior to the battle in the sewers all but sum up why Wayne lost. Then when he was tossed in the pit he rebuilt himself up (like in Rocky, sure), and once again became the Batman we all know and love (evident with the scene with his father, and even the bats flying out of the cave). Then during the final battle Batman is really only to get the upperhand by breaking the mask, as he knows that may be the only way to secure victory in time to defuse the bomb.

I love what they did with Bane overall, as like Bertuzzied said he was never that great of character to begin with. Bane was always more of a Doomsday type character; great when first introduced, then he really became redundant in short order. Batman needed to face someone who was his match physically, and Bane was the only clear-cut way to go.

No, did someone else bring that up?

My problem is I've seen Rocky III 40+ times so for some reason this hit me when Batman and Bane started their second fight.

Bring a portable fan and some other cooling devices. The Chinook IMAX has the worst temperature control of any theatre I've ever been in. Came out of there dripping in sweat, and the rest of my party was pretty unhappy with the heat, too.

really enjoyed it. great movie and a great villain in bane. the only issue i have with this movie is it seems to be a bit of a mess at times. it a common complain i have of movies recently... there seems to be a lack of focus and sloppy writing occurs. overall it was a great end to the trilogy and didnt fail miserably as many #3's do. oh and dear god anne hathaway is a fox.

What the #### was this ####?

No seriously? What the ####.

Bruce Wayne is Batman's alter-ego. Not the other way around.
