Makes sense, even if someone wants a cut of revenue for something like that it's probably still worth doing though. Nostalgia can be big $$

Remember it well. Phantasy Star ranks as my best gaming memory of all time. R-Type was fantastic. Lot's of great games on that system, and lots of really quirky ones..Captain Silver ranks right up there for quirky.

I still have a master system, with my original copy of Phantasy Star that I received for Xmas, back in 1988. The battery still works, and my original game saves are still on it.

#1 paid app on the iPad in Canada. More than Dark Knight Rises.

Not just games. All apps.

Very nicely done.

I played the Sega Mark III/Master System version on my Game Gear for years.

It appears the music is not the version I am used to however sadly and that's 85% of the fun for me. You guys used the Commodore 64/Atari music which is fine but it's not the game I played. Well done on your success and sales though!

This seems to be a common theme here. Just a question. How hard would it be to incorporate all the different versions in one app? SMS, NES, C64, etc. I would love to play the SMS version all over again.

It would be fairly difficult - even retro mode sounded like just an art swap at the start - but it actually took a lot of code, art and sound tweaks to make it just right. A couple other considerations too like the download limit on app size where an app is available on 3G/wifi is 50mbs, over 50mbs and just wifi (as in you lose customers who try on 3g and forget later). That being said... I will take a boo at those other versions and if they are fairly close to the C64 version there might be something we can do.

This looks cool, but what I really want to know is when is GWABS for iOS dropping?

I love how the game has the in-built option to grab the Retina art. Such a nice way of optimizing the size of the base game.
