Air New Zealand seems to have some deals on right now from YVR. Don't know how they stack up to regular flight prices.

Looks like they work out to $1700ish roundtrip after taxes. They've buried the rest of the cost under terms & conditions...

Above fares do not include fuel surcharge, government fees, taxes or any other incidental charges. Estimated tax of $760 includes a fuel surcharge fee of $680.00 return. Taxes, surcharges and fees are subject to currency fluctuation and routing. Other terms & conditions apply.
Air Pacific has some for $1300ish but it's a bit more of a milk run.

Westjet's Blue Tag today...

Save an extra 30% off* new online bookings when you travel to Mexico from anywhere in Canada.

http://www.westjet.com/guest/en/deal...bt-ge-20120719

* Off the base fare, not including taxes, which really means about a 10-15% discount.

When I went to NZ I paid about 1600 and that was for flights with one connection though LAX. The flights that were coming in around 1300/1400 were for 30-40 hour long travel times so it was worth it to pay a few hundred more for a travel time of less than 17 hours.

Was in Pittsburgh for the NHL draft. Fun city and worth a trip, I'd say. Great park to watch baseball.

Booked the Pitt trip.

Would only let me book one ticket at the $330 price, then jacked it up to $600 for the second.

Booked the first. Came back to try the second one separately, $600 only. DOH

Seeing the Pirates vs. Reds. Should be good times at PNC.

Thanks Chris!

Have fun! It looks like Delta's prices to Pittsburgh are still at $330, but it's possible the particular dates you chose are sold out of the cheap fares.

Looks like Air Canada is now matching the prices to Pittsburgh. AC's 15% off code also applies (brings it down by like 20 bucks)

Westjet looks to have just dropped their November flights from Calgary to Manzanillo, Mexico (ZLO) down to $364 roundtrip after taxes.

Non-stop each way.

Finally, some cheap summer fares to Europe - $649 roundtrip after taxes

Cheap summer fares to Europe are pretty rare, and I was beginning to think Calgary wouldn't see any this year.

Air Transat's offering some cheap flights to both London, UK and Manchester.

Try one of the following date combinations on http://www.airtransat.ca/

Departing: Aug 1, 2, or 4

Returning: August 16 or 18

Note: July 25 to Aug 9 is also $649, but it looks like you need to call to book it (departure is too soon to book online)

There's a very interesting Travelocity code making it's way around the web at the moment. It's resulting in some pretty great prices, such as 3 night Vegas packages (flight + hotel) over a weekend for $271/person after all taxes & fees (which I'll show in the example below).

Here's what I've learned about it so far, and my tutorial for taking advantage of it.

1. You need to make sure you use Travelocity.com and not Travelocity.ca

To ensure this, you can just go to this link: http://www.travelocity.com/resolve/in/# and select the American site. Put a checkmark beside 'Remember this selection'

2. Now that we're on Travelocity's site we need to think of a destination where taking $200 off of a package price (per person) will result in an amazing price.

Las Vegas is an obvious first thought, so let's try that.

- Select 'Flight + Hotel'
- From YYC to LAS
- Depart Nov 1, Return Nov 4
- Change the number of adults from 2 to 1. We're doing this because we want to use the code twice, and take $200 off per person each time.
- Hit Search Now

3. Now that we're on the results page, let's sort the results by price. It looks like the Super 8 Las Vegas package is currently going for $471/person after taxes & fees. Click on 'Select & Continue'.

4. Scroll down to 'Book Now' and click on that.

Scroll down to the bottom and click on 'Continue'.

5. Now scroll down to Step 3, under 'Review the price' and look for the box that says 'I have a promotional code'. It looks like this:

enter the following code:

NFB2012

and hit 'Apply'

6. Now $200 is removed from the price and it looks like this...

7. After booking, you would repeat this process for the next person.

Here are my thoughts, based on my experience with the Expedia code (which some of you may remember).

- Be aware that one risk is that you book one package with the code, and then Travelocity pulls the plug on the code before you can book the next person. It could happen if the code goes viral. Apparently there is a redemption limit of 3500 bookings.

- You might wish to use separate names and credit cards for each booking, so that Travelocity can't claim you tried to use the code more than once. If you have a Travelocity account, I'd probably book one using the account, and the other one as a 'guest'.

- This code looks to work for all flight + hotel packages, not just Vegas. I was just using Vegas as an example as it's typically one of the more popular and cheaper destinations.

- It doesn't matter if you end up with a room that you never use. The hotel doesn't care.

Here are the full terms and conditions of the code:

The promotional code (the Promo Code) for $200 is valid between 12:01 a.m. Central Time on July 2, 2012 and 11:59 p.m. Central Time on August 4, 2012 (the Promotion Period) or until it reaches the redemption limit of 3,500 redemptions. Your use of the Promo Code on the www.travelocity.com Web site (the Site) is subject to the Travelocity User Agreement and Privacy Policy. The Promo Code is valid only for qualifying purchases made on the Site. A qualifying purchase means a three-night or longer Hotel+Flight Vacation Package which is offered on the Site during the Promotion Period. Travel dates must be between July 2,2012 and December 31, 2012. Qualifying Hotel+Flight Vacation Package purchase requires a minimum spend of $200 and should be booked immediately following your qualifying air booking.

If you find a great deal using this code, help out your fellow traveler and comment on it here.

Another interesting thing I've noticed is that if you use the 'advanced search' options you can book a package with a flight to wherever (let's say Kelowna), but combine it with a super cheap hotel in, let's say, Thailand.

The end result is a flight to Kelowna for $73 roundtrip after taxes, and a hotel room in Thailand that never gets used.

Which cities in Thailand would you recommend putting in for cheap hotels? Great find.

I just went with Bangkok, but could be worth trying some smaller cities for sure.

What made you choose Thailand? Never been. Are hotels ridiculously cheap there?

Any recommendations for a good cheap Vegas hotel last week of August, or even how to find the best deals?

I'm curious as to how you were able to put a Bangkok hotel in for a search to kelowna?

I meant to apply that stuff too... Chris basically just showed us some random hotel package. I want to know which are the good value hotels (not just the cheapest).

As an example, I chose depart August 27, return August 31. Flight and hotel, got the following (these are all decent hotels):

Harrah's - $279.19
Bally's - $296.94
Luxor - $332.55
Flamingo - $342.95
Planet Hollywood - $357.53 (I really like this hotel)

And it goes up from there. Lots of options. The best part is, you each get your own hotel room!
