I doubt most of the reveals were huge revelations to anyone who reads the comics, or knows the mythos, but Nolan pulled off each and everyone of them to perfection I'd say.
That especially goes for the last 5 minutes of the movie; the absolute perfect way to end it all.
To his credit:
Spoiler!
He almost had me thinking Bruce died at the end.

That Batman has so few scenes I think was meant to underscore that this wasn't really a superhero trilogy. Batman isn't really a superhero after all, he's a man with a lot of money. This trilogy, while respecting the Batman universe, was a more deeper exploration of society which is what makes it more dark and mature.

Plans for "The Dark Knight Rises" have fallen through in France with Warner Bros. cancelling the film’s red carpet premiere in Paris on Friday night in addition to media interviews with director Christopher Nolan and cast members.
Nolan and Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway and Morgan Freeman are at Paris' hotel Le Bristol to promote the film. However, journalists present at le Bristol for a daytime press conference were told to leave.
In lieu of the shooting in Colorado, Warner Bros. has cancelled the interviews. TF1 said that Cotillard was set for an interview on the network's 8 p.m. news program, but cancelled her appearance today.
The red carpet première tonight has also been cancelled
Was at the marathon last night and loved it. All 3 movies just flew by and I really enjoyed TDKR. I'm not sure which of the three I like the best, but I do know that all of them are awesome.
Spoiler!
I was honestly thinking/hoping that Blake would either find the Batcave earlier and become Batman while Wayne was in prison OR he would become Night Wing at some point in the movie. I would like to see a Night Wing/Batman Beyond type scenario going forward.
I thought Tate was Al Ghul going into and through most of the film and I had JUST given up on the idea when she stabbed Batman.
Loved the movie, it was loud and action packed when it had to be, and subdued and emotional when it had to be. I loved the last moment with Bane when she was telling the story and you could see Bane crying. Tom Hardy did a great job considering most of his face was covered.
Really liked the movie, but didn't love it. It was so entertaining. I was in awe of Bane.
Here's my negative thoughts. SPOILERS
Spoiler!
1. Blake (Robin) will become Batman. I know this is how it went in the Comics with Robin and Dick Grayson and all, but as we saw in Batman Begins, Batman had years of physical training with the League of Shadows. Robin has some serious skills to learn to become Batman. But from who?
2. During the street brawl in which Batman comes back and takes on Bane again why are cops fist fighting with the criminals/Bane? He's a terrorist. Just shoot him, lol.
3. Not sure about Bruce Wayne living without a disguise after faking his death.
4. Him and Selina Kyle fall in love eh? Thought that was a little bit of a stretch
5. Originally thought the death of Bane was uneventful, but in a "realistic" setting, it seems like a pretty appropriate way to die. Unexpected and non-glorified.
6. Thought Blake and Talia was very predictable. Saw it coming as soon as they were introduced.
I think the best thing about Bane was how you could feel his power. During the fights with Batman it was like the whole theatre shook everytime Bane landed a hit. You could feel the fear he struck into everyone, even Batman for moments.

Number 2 made me laugh, and so true. Batman got his freaking back broken by Bane before, so you'd think he might decide against more hand to hand combat and perhaps take a different approach?

Now that I've had a chance to think about it, the entire trilogy deals with the whole Batman as a "symbol" theme from Batman Begins. It's really apparent in DKR. Bruce Wayne truly makes Batman this incorruptible everlasting symbol that cannot be destroyed. Bane is legitimately shocked when Batman comes back and defeats him. "I broke you." The more I've thought about the movie in the context of the entire trilogy the more I've come to like DKR.
Amazing film. I need to see it more times before I come up with a REALLY informed opinion, but damn. So good. Less plot holes than TDK (at least initially) too.
"The Dark Knight Rises" earned $27 million from its midnight screenings around the country on early Friday morning, a record-breaking number that has taken a backseat after the tragic shooting at an Aurora, Co. movie theater.
Warner Bros., the studio releasing “The Dark Knight Rises,” is considering whether to cancel screenings across the country after a massacre took place at a midnight screening in Colorado that left 12 moviegoers dead in the early hours of Friday.
Executives at the Hollywood studio were gathered at the Burbank offices from the middle of the night, struggling with whether to alter roll-out plans for the second-biggest release in movie history.
An executive told TheWrap that Warner was watching the situation and still considering whether to take further measures beyond cancelling the Paris premiere, including cancelling screenings at theater chains.
The executive said they would be making decisions on Friday and throughout the weekend as they conferred within the studio, monitored news reports and spoke to theater chains.
Loved Anne Hathaway as Seline Kyle/Catwoman. To me she was the most true to the comic character we’ve seen thus far in the trilogy, just a knock out performance.
Enjoyed the parable of the pit of the prison and the lazarus pit from the comics, i.e. if you are able to escape the pit once entering you are granted a new life. Both true for Batman and Bane.
At first I didn’t like the John Blake “Robin” gambit but then the more I thought about it the more I realized that John Blake isn’t going to become Robin, he was Robin throughout the film, albeit not in the traditional form. Really a clever way for Nolan to have the character without needing all the necessary development that would go into creating the traditional Robin.
I really enjoyed the Scarecrow/Dr. Crane cameo during the courtroom appearances, but just couldn’t help but think how much better it would have been to see The Joker take the role.
The first fight scene between Bane and Batman was epic. You could feel Bane’s power and strength with everyone blow, along with Batman’s pain. I cringed when he injured his back in the final blow, very well done.
Low points:
Spoiler!
As mentioned already Bane’s presumed death was very anti climatic. I realized that once it was revealed that it was Talia al Ghul as the mastermind, Bane loses some of the air of superiority, but I still thought he deserved a more poetic demise.
Bruce Wayne’s return to Gotham was also underwhelming. One minute he’s standing on the edge of the pit in what looks like the Middle East, the next he is casually strolling up to Catwoman in Gothman. If in fact the entire island was locked down (no one on or off) how did he manage to come back undetected? At lease maybe show him sneaking on a cargo truck or something, just a bit too much suspension of disbelief for me.
Also as mentioned Batman’s final battle with Bane was a bit strange. Earlier Bane beats him handily without Batman landing a single blow, but for round two Batman makes short work of Bane. I would have like to see Batman try and take a physiological edge, perhaps tormenting Bane, recounting his time in the prison.
Finally, I know Nolan was in a sticky situation, and wanted to honour Ledger but it just didn’t feel right not having some mention of the Joker, especially considering so much focus was still on Harvey Dent. Something like Bane walking down the halls of Blackgate Prison and one of his thugs about to open a high level security cell and saying “No, we do not need any more stray dogs in Gotham” and then hearing a faint cry of Jokers laugh.
I think the idea was that by ascending the hole, Batman had become Bane's equal (the only two to ever do it, well three including Talia). And I thought the fight was pretty even until Batman sliced Bane's mask, and thus putting him in considerable pain
Just got back from seeing it. Pretty good movie. No Avengers but pretty good. Very complex for a comic book movie.
Can anyone point me to a place where I can read Bane's dialogue? I didn't catch a single thing he said. So incredibly hard to follow a villain like Heath's Joker.
Also...
Spoiler!
After Bane got beat down by Batman and was on the floor he looked like Vader with his mask off in Return of The Jedi after Luke beat him down. I wonder if that is just coincidence or maybe a tip of the hat?
While I did really like the Avengers, it really isn't in the same league with The Batman movies. Honestly, this could very well be the best movie trilogy of all time; there is absolutely no weak point like in almost every other trilogy (Temple of Doom, Return of the Jedi). Each of the three movies is exceptional in its own right.
No weak points? What about wanting to burst out laughing every time Batman speaks? And the garbled mess that was Bane's voice?
<Post Debbie Downer picture here>
I would have to agree...one of the best trilogies from start to finish. I am sad that this universe could be over.
I have to say I don't mind the Batman voice. I think he pulled it back in TDKR. In TDK there were points where he couldn't get out more than 2 words without taking a breath.
I did find it hard to understand Bane in a few spots. I made sure to try and pay attention when he was speaking. But I definitely understood it better than when the prologue came out.
