My assumption is that it will sell more seats, but I'm not sure it can make up for the lack of 3D premium. Here in Lethbridge by this time on Thursday, Hunger Games had sold out all of its Friday showings and one on Saturday... similar to The Avengers. It'll be interesting to see the numbers tomorrow.

^^^If you have reserved seats, show up basically 10 minutes from start. If not, get your ass down there now if you want a good seat.

Sadly, TDKR will always be remembered for this:

Aurora, Colorado: 12 Dead in Shooting Rampage at Midnight Showing of The Dark Knight Rises
Twelve cinema-goers are reported to have been killed and 20 hurt at a cinema in the Colorado city of Aurora during a midnight showing of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.
Local media also report that two gunmen went on the rampage. Further reports confirmed that a blast went off at the Century 16 cinema in Aurora, leaving several injured.

A guy on youtube that was filming outside of the building after it happened is saying that the shooter was wearing a gas mask and released some tear gas in one of the theatres then lit the place up. Pretty sad.

Just spectacular, best movie in a looooooooong time.
Not entirely sure if it's better than Dark Knight, I will have to see it again before I make the comparison.
My only slight complaint is in regards to the Batman/Catwoman relationship, but that hardly deters from the movie.
I also loved how Nolan developed Bane's villainous intentions throughout the movie, it was exceptionally well done to say the least.
Based on the ending I am quite intrigued to see where they go from here, as obviously there is a possibility to continue the franchise without rebooting it.
While I did really like the Avengers, it really isn't in the same league with The Batman movies. Honestly, this could very well be the best movie trilogy of all time; there is absolutely no weak point like in almost every other trilogy (Temple of Doom, Return of the Jedi). Each of the three movies is exceptional in its own right.

I honestly don't know how I feel about the film. There were some great moments throughout the movie. I thought Bane was a great villain and Hathaway did a really good job as Cat Woman. It was really emotional at points. But something is off and I can't really place it right now. Not enough Batman? I don't know. I do have to say that going to the marathon was fantastic. Seeing all of the films back to back was a great way to appreciate the entire trilogy.

Just came from the midnight showing. I walked away feeling this was a really great film, and while it may not be the best of the franchise, it is certainly on the same level as it's two predecessors.
Anne Hathaway was fantastic, I am in love with that woman.

It was great, loved it and thought it was a terrific closer to a great trilogy. Just a behemoth to watch in IMAX, some of the sequences just look phenomenal. No Superman trailer in IMAX at least though, and you don't have to stay to the end of the credits, there is nothing.
Overall, I thought Hathaway definitely exceeded expectations, since a lot of people thought she wasn't a great choice. Many people said the same about Heath Ledger though, so apparently Nolan knows what he's doing.

Chinook parking lot was absolutely packed around the theatre. I'm guessing they maybe sold out 4 or 5 shows on top of IMAX.

I doubt most of the reveals were huge revelations to anyone who reads the comics, or knows the mythos, but Nolan pulled off each and everyone of them to perfection I'd say.
That especially goes for the last 5 minutes of the movie; the absolute perfect send off to the franchise.
Agreed, that scene was awe inspiring.
