The NJ Devils are proud to announce the trade for G Corey Crawford and 2.5 Million this season and 2.0 Million next season in salary cap from the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Devils are sad to give up a 2014 2nd rounder, D Steven Kampfer and RW Reilly Smith. We wish them both best of luck in their new home, but are excited to introduce Corey in a presser when the trade is passed.
The Bolts have been stewing over this all summer. Who do they Keep? Crawford or Theodore?
Considering Crawford's cooling off at the end of last season and Theo's good rating we decided that Crawford was the odd man out. We risked losing a top 15 rated goalie in the sim if we kept him.
Our mandate was simple. We wanted 2 very solid prospects and a pick. Mission accomplished.
I have always been a Crawford fan but I am starting to wonder if he may be the next Nittymaki. Will be nothing more than a back up in a couple of seasons. I hope not but.
We are really excited to add Smith and Kampfer to the team to balance out our veteran line-up.
