driving directions - calgary to humboldt, sk
so, i am leaving tomorrow am for a wedding in humboldt, saskabush. what is the fastest way there?
google maps is telling me to go north to highway 566, then east to highway 9 and thru drumheller. a part of me thinks that taking the tch east to hussar, then route 56 north would be quicker, simply by cutting out drumheller.
any suggestions or recommendations on a route and timing?

To bypass Drumheller, I'd take #9 east of Beiseker and turn onto #21 North towards Three Hills. Just before you get to Three Hills, turn onto #27 and take it East towards Hanna, where eventually it becomes #9.
It's one km further than going through Drum, but you won't have to slow down to go through town.

Highway 9/7 will take you directly to Saskatoon. Use getbak's advice if you don't wish to go through drumheller. Once you arrive in Saskatoon the road will turn into 22nd street. Once you get to the circle drive overpass you'll want to take circle drive north bound, take that until you get to the college drive interchange. Take the exit that will take you eastbound on College drive. It'll turn into highway 5 and you can that directly to Humboldt.

If you're okay with a stretch of dirt roads (about 15 minutes), the best bypass for Drumheller I've taken is taking Country Hills Boulevard (Hwy 564) out of Calgary, following it all the way to the end of the pavement, going North a bit to Hwy 848, and it pops you right onto Highway 570. They recently repaved 570 going East from Drumheller and removed almost all the 4-way stops, so it's a great 100km/h road now. (Haven't ever seen a police car on it either, so you can make up even more time if you'd like)
You take that all the way to Oyen, and there is quite literally no traffic on 570, so you save a ton of time. From Oyen you hop up to Highway 9/7 and follow saskflames96's directions.

I lived in Humboldt when I was 2-5 years old. I still have some good memories of the house we lived in. Alas, there is literally nothing to do in Humboldt. Sucks for you.
There is a Saan store in the mall, I think. That's probably the place you would go if you needed stuff you forgot to bring. They also have an Extra Foods there.

Humbolt Broncos (?) Good ole SJHL. Still have a soft spot for the Nipawin Hawks and to this day I hate Melfort whatever their stupid team is called.
I have absolutely nothing worthwhile to contribute to this thread.

Completely agree, hated the mustangs ever since I was at one of their games and found out Ruslan Fedotenko played for them.
As for Humboldt, my brother lives there, and yeah, there's not much to do around town, so have fun.
