Default Jaxon Smith, 7 year old drummer

I love these type of stories.....

Quote:
He loves newer bands like the Foo Fighters and such old standbys as Rush.

When he went to a Pearl Jam concert at age three, lead singer Eddie Vedder — seeing the kid do some awesome air drumming in the crowd — gifted him after the show with the band’s handwritten set list.

No wonder that at the tender age of seven, Jaxon Smith has big plans to become a drummer in a rock band.

Unlike most kids his age, though, the pint-sized boy already has a leg up on the competition.

“He started tapping to music when he was just a year old,” says his dad, Kevin Smith. “By the time he was three, he was playing the drums like a pro.”

Quote:
The little drummer’s incredible talent is matched only by the drama with which he came into the world.

In May 2005, mom Andrea was in the latter stages of what was a normal pregnancy when she began feeling ill.

“She went into the hospital on a Friday and Jaxon was born the Monday, at only 25 weeks,” says Smith.

Weighing just over one pound, the preemie spent the next two-and-a-half months in ICU.

“We took him home on the date he was supposed to be born, Aug. 11.”

As any parent of a premature baby can attest to, the next few months were, as Smith puts it bluntly, “a tough haul. You think there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.”

In time, Jaxon began to grow and was soon tapping away to the beat with wooden spoons. Smith went out and got him his own little drum kit and the rest, as the old saying goes, is history.

Oh yeah and this is his dad, Kevin Smith.

Agreed. His parents deserve to be stabbed in the face with a drumstick for giving him such a stupid name.

Rush, Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam? At least we know this kid listens to quality music and thus will likely become a quality musician. Good for him, hope he does well.

There's nothing wrong with "Jackson". But I have never understood people who deliberately misspell their kids' names. Is it so that their precious little snowflake can stand out?

Names evolve, and its not so he can stand out, his personality already does that for him. At the same time, my wife didn't want to give our son a "Last Name" for a first name

I just noticed, they referred to the 'Foo Fighters' as a 'newer' band.

I guess when you're using Rush as your yardstick for that comparison, it works. But the Foo first came out back in 1994. As a child, anything older than ten years was in the range of 'old people music' to me.

Changing the letter doesn't change the pronunciation. It's still Jackson even if it isn't spelled as such, and making it with an X just kinda looks silly. But hey name your kids what you want, certainly could do a lot worse than Jaxon.

Bitching and moaning about the spelling of a kid's name? Get over yourselves. Why do so many posters think their approval is even ####ing necessary?
