The only thing that pisses me off is David Letterman gave away the ending completely. People say he didn't, but if you have any form of any logical reasoning you know exactly what he meant by what he said. I suggest you don't look up what he said because I was quite pissed when he gave it up. That'd be nice if somebody sues him over it because it was a pretty big screw up to give away the ending like he did. Funny thing is I read it on a news article that had the spoiler on the very first line with zero spoiler tags. I rarely care about anything like this, but I'm quite pissed about it, 3 days before it came out and I had ruined by morons on msn.com that had the spoiler on the first line on their front page. I feel like those kids that had Harry Potter ruined for them.

To be fair, if you're referring to what I think you are, we all assumed this months ago.

Well, no, he gave it away much more than what people assumed. He gave it away, then tried to correct it and in doing so gave away the actual ending. I won't say any more because you'll be able to surmise what I mean

Letterman tried to confirm it, Hathaway got mad, then he corrected it and gave the actual ending in a quick 3 second sentence that you have to be smart to pick up on. Don't look it up. I've heard the same rumour months ago then was infuriated when Letterman solidified the real ending. That is of course assuming he has seen the movie and what he said wasn't conjecture but Hathaway didn't deny it and tried to change the topic, he's an asshat.

don't be an ass, he said flatout on TV what happens but he said it quickly and indirectly but he said it and what Letterman said is not what people assume. If you can't understand that then whatever, I don't care.

Classic Letterman. It continued last night with Morgan Freeman.

Ebert (***):

The result, in Christopher Nolan's conclusion to his Batman trilogy, is an ambitious superhero movie with two surprises: It isn't very much fun, and it doesn't have very much Batman.
This is a dark and heavy film; it tests the weight a superhero movie can bear. That Nolan is able to combine civil anarchy, mass destruction and a Batcycle with exercise-ball tires is remarkable. That he does it without using 3D is admirable. That much of it was shot in the 70mm IMAX format allows it to make that giant screen its own. That it concludes the trilogy is inevitable; how much deeper can Nolan dig? It lacks the near-perfection of "The Dark Knight" (2008), it needs more clarity and a better villain, but it's an honorable finale.

While I am extremely excited for this movie I think a lot of people might leave dissapointed if they're expecting another Dark Knight. I have doubts that Bane will be anywhere near the level of quality of Joker. Ebert's remark about there not being much Batman kind of concerns me. I enjoyed TDK but the thing that bugged me about that movie was that the focus really wasn't on Batman. He almost felt like a secondary character in his own movie so I hope that's not the case with DKR. At any rate I cannot wait for Thursday.

Its pointless to debate until I actually see it.
But it seems like the common theme among the negative reviews are that it is "heavy" in tone and plot, and that it doesn't match up to its predecessor.
The Dark Knight was a great movie because it was a good crime movie as well as a good superhero movie. What crime villain in the history of movies has a goal of chaos? It was a great actor playing a great character in a great concept.
It seems that maybe as far as general crime movies go maybe it doesn't stack up as well as The Dark Knight.
For me I am a fan of the character first. And Batman is badass. I have no doubt this movie will come through for fans of the character. I will let the people gripe who just go to see it because they heard it was good.

I'm sure it will be a great movie either way. Probably won't live up to The Dark Knight which is funny because almost always the general rule is that the second movie in a trilogy is the worst because the first introduces the characters and the third ends the story arc. Problem is people are going to compare Bane to Joker, the good thing is most of the gripes are about the way the story is told and how the action is over the top and not so much about the actual story itself. Even though I'm pretty sure I know what's going to happen it should be a fun ride, I don't think most people know what's coming.

I think it should be pointed out that the Ebert review does get into some details, I stopped reading it.
