Auto body repair shop in Calgary?
My Dad's 2001 Acura MDX has a couple scratches and minor dents in it, and a couple rust spots have popped up on the hood.
We took it to Calgary Coachworks after having a good experience with them previously. However, the difference was that on the previous occasion, the damage was due to an accident and the repair was paid for through an insurance settlement.
This time around we actually received a quote of ~$3500, which I believe is a quite high for the amount of repair that is to be done. So, I was wondering if you CP'ers have any insight into the realm of auto body repair. (Perhaps there's a CP discount to be had? )

Bodyshops.... you get what you pay for.
And unfortunately Calgary seems to be either cheap & shoddy work or expensive & only do insurance claims.

do you deal with one of the acura dealerships or a regular repair shop? if so, call them and ask who they recommend.

What about a PDR shop... (maybe not for the rust though...)
Tomco over on Beyond seems t have a good rep.
Might be cheaper then a body shop...

Useful thread. What about bigger jobs than just detail work? I have to get a new fender, bumper and headlight from an encounter with a concrete pillar. Heninger quoted me $3000, which is steep but not out of the range of what I expected given the part cost on a xenon headlight is a grand. If anyone has any suggestions of other places to talk to, I'd be grateful.

Is this a leased vehicle or one you own?
You can buy a new bumper cover and fender for most vehicles for about $600.00. After that it's just a question of getting them painted. Probably your best option for getting it done cheaper.

It's mine. And yeah, those two parts aren't a big deal. I think the bumper's 350-400 and the fender a bit less. The headlight is about double what I expected a headlight to cost, but that's what it costs so that's what I'm going to have to shell out. Annoyingly, because it works fine but a couple of the struts are broken and apparently that means you have to get an entirely new part.
I'm interested in places people have had good experiences with in the past.

I'll make a plug again for my cousin, and even though it may seem biased, his shop does some of the best work in Calgary.
Contemporary Coachworks. They are in Douglasdale (403-237-8833) and also in the Sunridge business park (403-250-1728).
A little more expensive, but there is a reason that a lot of dealers in Calgary use them, not to mention the countless exotic owners that bring their cars there to get worked on.
