When you're in the guide, use the right arrow button to advance into the week.

But it goes through every show, if I just want to flip to say 8Pm I can't do that the guide closes or rewinds whatever I'm watching.
Gotta say the menu is much more slicker then telus. The telus layout was very nice, now if shaw could have my menu not blank out randomly when I'm going through it.

When the guide is up, hit your RWD/FFWD key on the remote and it'll flip forward either a full day or half a day, I can't remember exactly which right now.

One of my biggest complaints about the Gateway. Drives me crazy the way it redraws all the time.

Yeah that doesn't work. Also hate how it stays stuck at where you left your guide at.

Sorry not the RWD/FFWD button, but the 30 second skip ahead should work, at least it does on mine.
But yeah I agree, once you exit the guide it should revert back to the current date/time.

Anyone else get random choppy playback on live tv lately?
Its like a buffering issue when you watch online video. Has ruined a few of my recordings already.
Tried rebooting portal and gateway but no luck...

So is it safe to say from reading the last couple pages, that its still working out the kinks?
We're moving in less than a month, and was thinking of upgrading from the usual DCT's to the Gateway upon install (the current owners of the new place have Telus)
The multi tv/one DVR function, given the layout of the new place and the likelihood we're adding another TV (to total 3) is the big selling feature, plus the fact that Shaw has to come out regardless to install whichever equipment we're going to be going with.
But if its more hassle then its worth, no matter how pretty it looks, or how well it should work in theory, may hold off. No issues with our current setup, plus there is stuff on the two PVR's that would like to somehow preserve, which would be gone if we move up.

I have it and don't regret it, even with the minor quirks.

I've had both, I preferred the offering from Shaw.

I would say go with the gateway. Telus is slow compared to this bathe issues are minor, I'm hoping they get fixed soon though.
How does one set reminders now?

Sorry, to make it clear, I don't have, and never have had Telus, that's just the setup in the house we will be moving to. We have everything with Shaw and have for as long as we've had cable and for Internet since Cadvision went the way of the dodo.
Will look into the Gateway costs and see if they have any promos. Thinking of cancelling under the wife's name where the account is under, and signing up under my name if that would help with any sort of reduced costs.

The promo is for the package not the hardware. The hardware is like 19 bucks for 2 portals and the giant box.
The bundle is where the discount is for the first 6 months.

Just an FYI I called to cancel my service because Shaw was not going to give me a discount on new hardware. I had the original HD box and it is not capable of playing MPEG4 so I did not have access to a couple HD channels and movie central on demand HD even though I was paying for it.
Once I got to cancellations the guy asked why I was cancelling and I told him I didn't have an issue with my Shaw services. The problem I had was I had hardware that was working fine but that Shaw was using a signal that my box wasn't able to use and that I wasn't offered any discount to stay on as a customer. The CSR asked me if the previous people I talked to told me about easy pay, and I said yes but that isn't a discount and that I didn't want to pay $20/month for 36 months when I can get the same type of service for cheaper. He then said that he could give me a year of payments for free and that it would only be 24 payments of $20...I took the deal.

I am having issues with the Gateway recently as well. One of my portals has to be unplugged and plugged back in again in order to get a signal. Anyone have any suggestions before I call Shaw?
Also, anyone feel the Wi-Fi signal is pretty weak?

I use my own router for wireless, so I can't comment on that. No issues with my portals, I have had it since Saturday.

I had one portal that had the same problem. They sent a tech out and replaced both the portal and the Gateway.
If they do this, make sure you note all your series recordings that you need to reset, plus you will lose all your PVR shows.

So I just called Shaw and for the exact same package as Telus Optik TV, except with Broadband 50 my pricing I got from them was astronomical. I currently pay $161 with Telus Optik TV and my pricing for the exact same setup from Shaw Gateway was $188.90. Does anyone have any advice or information about why the exact same setup is so much more? I am currently renting the Telus Boxes and was going to do a monthly pay plan for Shaw's Gateway.
