every team have a big bodied defensive stud that can both center wand the wing? somehow I doubt it.

He always has been. Same reason he was paired with Hall and Heanrquie in WHL and brought in for juniors. He was their defensive player to allow the other two to go all offense.

Actually I think you might need to recalibrate what you consider a defensive stud. The ability to play defense doesn't make you a stud.

The guy was drafted for size and offensive ability. His knock 4 years ago was skating and it's still an issue from all that I've heard. So if hasn't improved to the point where it isn't a hindrance in 4 years, what are we expecting at this point?

And yes, every team has a prospect they can throw in, maybe not as big as Nemisz, but someone.

Nemisz has been a defensive specialist (or 2way since he put up pretty big offensive numbers in junior) and elite penalty killer on every team he has played on. Even in the world juniors he was used as a shut down player and excelled. You are right the knock on Nemo is his skating, but his defensive prowess is why no one that knows anything about him has ever doubted he would be at least a 3rd liner in the NHL.

I love David Moss, and maybe Nemisz' top upside is David Moss. But he hasn't shown that he is even close to that. I hope he does develop into a useful NHL player, but he still has a long way to go. 4 years after a player is drafted, it is good to see signs that they are knocking on the door.

clearly they have different pedigrees (1st versus 7th round) and trajectories (CHL v NCAA), but David Moss didn't play in the NHL until 24 or 25 and didn't debut in the AHL until I think the age Nemisz is now, so I don't think it's necessarily true that Nemisz has shown to be nothing close to Moss

David Moss = First NHL game at the age of 25
Greg Nemisz = First NHL game at 22

Greg Nemisz can't be David Moss.

Nemisz absolutely has shown that.

And Sergei Makarov won the Calder trophy at 31. What do any of these age comparisons mean? As much as we all want it to be, it's just not there with this guy...

Questions:

Will Baertschi be making the big club this year for 82 games?

Will Nemisz be making the big club at all?

Nemisz will be there at some point(s) for sure. No doubt in my mind. I think Nemisz will see 40-50 games this season. Sven around the 70 game mark, probably sit one or two out healthy.

not sure what you are asking. Age is incredibly important when evaluating prospects.

I highly doubt that many games. We have so many forwards as it is. I can only see him coming up if there are alot of injuries or the team needs a serious shake up.

Hes played a decent amount of games and only has what, 1 point?

Not saying he wont ever make it, I just think he is still a couple years away to being an effective 3rd liner.

.
Guess we'll find out. Right now he's probably in that last group of three extra forwards. Say Horak, Buoma, Nemisz. I also hope guys like Jackman, Comeau and Jones aren't given roster spots just because they are vets and healthy.

15 games.
