I like Scott Parker, I do, but something about him screams gay porn. I don't know, maybe it's his haircut and the way he's always winking or closing one eye in photos, like he's trying to be cute. It's quite odd.

Not really EPL related, but huge news nonetheless:
Quote:
AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has claimed he has sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris St Germain.
The Milan stars would move to the big-spending French club in a €62million deal (£49m).

Apparently the wages for those two alone were about €75M per year.

Apologies for posting in this thread.
Rangers newco to start life in Scottish Div 3.
As much as teams don't want to acknowledge or accept it, but they (everyone) needs Rangers to be a functioning, healthy club. The revenues that the Glasgow giant bring into the SPL are substantial and there is a considerable trickle-down effect to the rest of the clubs. This whole affair just strikes me as people 'baying for blood'. I don't like it.

John Terry not guilty of racist abuse.
Ex-England captain John Terry has been cleared of racially abusing fellow footballer Anton Ferdinand.
The Chelsea and England defender had denied making the comments to the Queens Park Rangers player during a match at Loftus Road last October.
The 31-year-old told Westminster Magistrates' Court he was merely repeating what he thought Mr Ferdinand had said to him as they traded insults.
Mr Terry had described himself as "angry and upset" over the claims.
It was alleged he had insulted Mr Ferdinand in a match between Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers, describing him as "black" and using extreme sexual swear words.

It will be very interesting to see how the FA handles Terry now. He should be getting a similar ban as Suarez.

Why? He 'didnt do anything wrong...'
Besides, the whole Suarez debacle was a fiasco, from the FA, from the player and from the club. It was a complete circus.

Suarez suspension was justified, there were witnesses on the Man United side whose stories all fit with one another
the Liverpool one's contradicted each other, and then the club embarrassed itself
it was an easy decision
problem with the Terry suspension is that it seems Ashley Cole's testimony was the key piece of evidence, I doubt he gets anything because of that. If it was just the video and Anton's complaint it would have been the same

There are a few players who have jumped ship by saying that their contracts were not transferred to the new owners, making them free agents. Norwich have "signed" Steven Whittaker from Rangers, had the press conference to introduce him, etc. but the deal is in limbo while labour lawyers and FIFA look into it. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Haha, they basically said that Terry was 'a credible witness.'
See, knowing how to lie convincingly can pay off, not to mention all that courtroom experience.

I haven't really followed the Terry case very much, so I may very well be wrong here, but Suarez got suspended for using a racist phrase, isn't that the exact same thing Terry has done?

No, he was found to be simply repeating a racist phrase that someone accused him of having said or some such BS.
He may have said the words, but he was only repeating what 'someone' else said, but accused him of saying.

I can understand why he can be found not guilty in court because it can't be proven beyond reasonable doubt. However, I still think there is enough evidence for the FA to take action and suspend him for a few games.
A comment on another site:
Quote:
Both Terry and Suarez admit to using words which in a certain context can be considered racist. Both Terry and Suarez claim that the context in which those words were used were not racist. Both have a fair point and without any witnesses who can verify the context in which those words were used by both men, they would both be found not guilty in a court of law.
|
It's unlikely either man would be found guilty in court, but at this point I'm failing to see a valid explanation as to why Terry should avoid punishment from the FA (and tbf, it is not certain that he will avoid punishment as of yet).

Michael Owen has insisted that he can still play at the highest level and does not want to drop down a division as he looks for a new club after being released by Manchester United.

Where does he land? I think he might be a good fit for Norwich.
The guy's gotta be able to play 30 or so games, a game here and there is useless.
Besides, with his injuries and career, why does he have to keep playing? Does his house need a new roof or something?

Because of witness testimony
From what I saw the only witness that was called in to court was Ashley Cole, I would imagine if others had heard it that they would have been called in
When there is only the 1 witness and he is siding with what Terry is saying (no matter how ridiculous it sounds) they can't suspend him
the Suarez situation had multiple witnesses, and the one's defending Suarez were inconsistent, while the one's who say they heard him say they word said they heard it multiple times
