A small tidbit on Sven - I met Nicolas Petan's mom today and was able to chat with her for about 30 minutes. Nicolas was Sven's center for the first half of last year. Although I felt a little bad, I asked questions about Sven (and not as much as was likely polite about her son).

Although this probably isn't new, it was nice sort of hearing from (the mom of) a guy who played last year on Sven's line. The tidbit I got was that Sven was the nicest guy on the team bar none. Also, although Ty Rattie can score from anywhere, Sven is wayyy more complete and exciting to watch. Nothing new but exciting for me nonetheless.

Niemsz is definitely like Otto if he can learn to master faceoffs.

No he is tremendously over rated on these boards, and it's charity to talk about him as an NHL caliber player. There is only a few teams he would draw into the line up, and sadly Calgary is one of them.

I'm not sure what roster you're looking at, but it's very unlikely that Nemisz plays with the Flames unless injuries hit. He is a perfect fill-in for the 3rd and 4th line, and I'm sure just about any team would gladly take him off our hands.

You may think he is overrated but its quite clear to me that you severely underrate him as a player/prospect.

How is he tremendously overrated when nobody thinks highly of him and the coaches conversely think highly of him. He may be no Otto but he's also no bust.

Joel Otto was 24 years old when he played his first NHL game. Greg Nemisz is 22.

What makes you sure about something like this? Every team has someone of a Nemisz caliber they can slot in rather than bring someone else from another organization in.

Love it.

The idea that some people think they can forecast a players potential with such certainty is comical.
